Fifty refugee children from the open accommodation center for refugees in Ritsona visited Kallimarmaro today in order to be guided to the place where the first modern Olympic Games took place, and to get in touch with athletics, under the guidance of great athletes.
The visit took place in the framework of the “Kids Love Sports” program, implemented by the Hellenic Olympic Committee, with the co-financing of the European Union. The children, aged 6-12, learned about the history of the Panathenaic Stadium (or Kallimarmaro), tried out competitions and at the end received medals and souvenirs.
The children were all beneficiaries of the “Child and Family Support Hubs” program implemented by SolidarityNow with the support of UNICEF Greece and IOM Greece and funding by the European Union.
