The mission
On Thursday, February 16th, the SolidarityNow (SN) Emergency Response Team (ERT) comprised of four people, arrived safely in Adana, Turkey. The team members began their trip to the affected areas, reaching the city of Antakya in the Hatay Region, a city which has been destroyed to its core. The scale of the destruction was shocking. Just over a week after the earthquake, the chance of finding people alive diminished, and large vehicles started clearing the wreckage. The most vulnerable, and especially women and children, many of whom are Syrian refugees, need support and protection. Survivors’ need for psychological support is urgent, as are activities to support the children, thus, any small or large humanitarian aid effort is important and meaningful.
