Through SolidarityNow&#8217;s intervention, <strong>1,759 parents and guardians<\/strong> received support, valuable knowledge and practical tools to strengthen their relationships with their children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The program offered different levels of support tailored to the needs of parents, from their child&#8217;s birth through adolescence. In parallel, a series of short educational videos featuring practical parenting tips was developed to support families in their everyday lives. <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can watch the videos<\/span> <a href=\"mailto:https:\/\/youtube.com\/playlist?list=PL3_NlSfsgtzR2uPLbaQGhQ_c8XICBaJg9&amp;si=mgKK_RZKDdqt54UZ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Health &amp; Menstrual Hygiene<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0<strong>\u201cHealth &amp; Menstrual Hygiene\u201d <\/strong>program, in which\u00a0SolidarityNow\u00a0participated as a UNICEF implementing partner, was part of the\u00a0National Action for the Promotion of Child and Family Health (2024\u20132025)\u00a0of the Greek Ministry of Health. The program was funded by the\u00a0European Union\u2019s Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF), NextGenerationEU \u2013 Greece 2.0.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The program aimed to promote the health and well-being of adolescent girls by providing information and raising awareness about menstruation, while also ensuring equitable access to menstrual hygiene products. The program was implemented\u00a0nationwide across Greece.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>SolidarityNow delivered educational awareness sessions in 1,212 schools across 8 regions of Greece<\/strong>, reaching\u00a0<strong>100,553 students<\/strong>in Grades 5\u20136 of primary school and lower secondary education, including\u00a0<strong>46,812 boys and 53,741 girls<\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In collaboration with\u00a0<strong>IATAP AMKE<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>18,288,000 sanitary pads<\/strong>were distributed free of charge to schoolgirls across the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In parallel,\u00a0<strong>capacity-building sessions were delivered to 187 teachers and 183 parents\/caregivers<\/strong>, both in person and online, with participants from across Greece.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A <strong>digital awareness campaign<\/strong>,\u00a0\u201c#RESPECT Your Body: Let\u2019s Talk Openly About Period,\u201d\u00a0was launched to promote open conversations about SolidarityNow\u2019s program experts answer frequently asked questions and debunk common myths about periods.\u00a0Watch the videos <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/__DKgbjUtGQ?si=kxEQGvHsr2Z_rcLW\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Implementation period:<\/strong>\u00a0January 2025 \u2013 May 2026<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Child-responsive disaster preparedness<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SolidarityNow with the support and funding from UNICEF Greece, implemented the \u201c<strong>Child-responsive disaster preparedness<\/strong>\u201d project, in collaboration with six (6) municipalities across Greece. The project\u2019s main objective was to support municipalities and local stakeholders in protecting children throughout the entire disaster management cycle (prevention, response and recovery), thereby enhancing their resilience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">PROCAP in action across Greece:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>6 in-person trainings in 6 municipalities across the country<\/strong> (Alexandroupolis, Karditsa, Limnos, Polygyros \u2013 Thessaloniki, Pyrgos (Ilia), Chalkida)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>1 open online training<\/strong> accessible to everyone, reaching a total of 249 participants.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A total of 249 participants from stakeholders, including civil protection services, social services, educational institutions, volunteer groups, and civil society organizations, attended the in-person trainings, while 207 joined the open online training.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Implementation period:<\/strong> February &#8211; December 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">PROCAP<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SolidarityNow in partnership with the National Centre for Social Solidarity, Greece (\u0395\u039a\u039a\u0391) and the Centre of Care for Families and Children (KMOP) implemented the project \u201c<strong>PROCAP:<\/strong> PROtection of victims of trafficking, CAPacity building and support to key stakeholders\u201d aiming to strengthen the protective environment, while empowering victims of human trafficking to claim their rights and fulfill their potential.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Implementation period:<\/strong> January 2024 \u2013 December 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SolidarityNow, through mobile units in Attica and Central Macedonia (incl. wider regions), provided psychosocial support, legal assistance and representation, translation and interpretation, accompaniment, integration and anti-trafficking activities to victims (or potential victims) of human trafficking.\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Discover the results of PROCAP <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/PROCAP_INFOGRAPHIC_2024-2025-ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<h6><em>The project \u201cPROCAP \/ PROtection of victims of trafficking, CAPacity building and support to key stakeholders\u201d is co-funded by the European Union under the Programme Greece \u2013 Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) 2021-2027, as a Specific Action on the Provision of services to victims of trafficking in human beings who are third country nationals with OPS code: 6002554.<\/em><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Empower YOUth<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"70\" data-end=\"598\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The program aimed to empower young people, particularly those from various vulnerable groups, such as Roma, migrants\/asylum seekers, refugees, youth with disabilities, individuals living in remote areas and below the poverty line, and LGBTQI+ individuals, enabling them to take on leadership roles and bring about positive change within their communities. <strong>A total of 30 young people participated in the program and led small-scale community interventions\/projects, working toward a society free of discrimination and exclusion. <\/strong><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Duration: October 2022 \u2013 February 2024. <\/span><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Watch the program video:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Empower Youth: &quot;Be the Change You Want to See in your community&quot; | A story of youth empowerment\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2HbWHZSvVaI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>\u201cAmaro Magip\u00e9: Actions for the Empowerment of Roma Women and Youth\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The project was implemented by SolidarityNow in partnership with Lighthouse of the World and the Cultural Association of Roma Women residing in Drosero, Xanthi \u201cElpida-Hope\u201d. It aimed<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> to empower and involve Roma women and youth in activities and trainings aimed at socialization, skills development, awareness, violence prevention and psychosocial support. In particular, the youth group developed mentors who will work in their communities by highlighting and solving long-lasting problems that torment Roma people.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The area of action will include the settlement of Pelekas in Katerini, Dendropotamos and the Municipality of Pavlos Melas in Thessaloniki and Drosero in Xanthi. <strong>In total, 414 individuals benefited from the project. Implementation period:<\/strong> May 2023 &#8211; April 2024.<strong> Watch the project&#8217;s video:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"\u201cAmaro Magip\u00e9: Actions for the Empowerment of Roma Women and Youth\u201d (with English subtitles)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q3Dtzejyhec?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h6><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u03a4he Project benefited from a grant from the EEA Grants (European Economic Area Financial Mechanism).<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Classrooms Against Bullying &#8211; CAB<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The programme \u201c<strong>Classrooms against Bullying \u2013 CAB\u201d <\/strong>was a collaboration between SolidarityNow and the Norwegian resource center European Wergeland Centre (EWC), aiming to cement a bilateral partnership for the promotion of safe and inclusive schools in Greece and was implemented under the \u201cLocal Development and Poverty Reduction\u201d programme of EEA Grants.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Implementation period:<\/strong> October 2023 &#8211; August 2024<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Best practices, experience and knowledge were distilled into a publication, widely disseminated to the Greek school community: &#8220;<span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/CAB-guide_gr.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Classrooms Against Bullying<\/a><\/span>&#8221; (<em>available in Greek).<\/em>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">MAMA<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The program\u00a0<strong>MAMA \u2013 Supporting new and mothers-to-be<\/strong> was implemented by SolidarityNow with the support of Eurolife FFH in Thessaloniki, aiming to support new parents through the provision of a holistic package of supportive services and activities.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The MAMA team provided individual and group counselling in strengthening the parental bond. In its two years of implementation, MAMA supported over 450 parents.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Implementation period:<\/strong> January 2023 &#8211; December 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Trauma-Informed Youth work Toolkit<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The project \u201c<strong>Trauma-informed Youth work Toolkit\u201d<\/strong> was a collaboration between the organizations MobileSchool.org (Belgium), Minor Ndako (Belgium), SolidarityNow (Greece), and Save the Children (Romania), focused on the support of Trauma-informed Youth Work. <strong>Implementation period:<\/strong> September 2023 \u2013 March 2025<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Aim: To empower youth workers by developing a comprehensive toolkit with relevant knowledge, skills, and innovative hands-on tools they need to support young people facing trauma safely and effectively. In the context of the project, training seminars for professionals for the best use of the toolkit were organized. The toolkit is freely accessible in multiple languages <\/span><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/Manual-Trauma-Informed-Youth-Work_ENGLISH_compressed.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h6><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">* The project \u201cTrauma-informed Youth work Toolkit\u201d\u00a0is co-funded by ERASMUS+ Strategic Leadership.<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>UACFutures <span style=\"color: #000000;\">| \u201cBuilding Futures, Sharing Good Practice: <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 16px;\">Migrant Children\u2019s Transition to Adulthood\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The <strong>UACFutures<\/strong> project began in January 2022 with the goal of exchanging good practices among partner organizations and developing proposals at the European level to improve the quality of care provided to migrant and refugee children as they transition into adulthood. To implement the project, SolidarityNow collaborated with partners from Europe: <strong>Convive &#8211; Fundaci\u00f3n Cepaim <\/strong>(Spain), <strong>NIDOS, the national guardianship institution<\/strong> (Netherlands)\u00a0and the <strong>Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors in Greece<\/strong>, under the coordination of the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.coe.int\/en\/web\/special-representative-secretary-general-migration-refugees\/multilateral-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Council of Europe<\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Four Pillars of Support<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The 18-month project focused on four key areas, recognized as critical to the lives of unaccompanied children:<\/span> <strong style=\"color: #000000;\">Psychosocial impact<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> of transitioning to adulthood and the necessary support, <\/span><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">Legal assistance<\/strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> and access to basic rights, <\/span><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">Access to education and the labour market, <\/strong><strong style=\"color: #000000;\">Access to housing.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Project Outcomes<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Good Practices Guide &amp; Educational Material<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A comprehensive Toolkit on Transition to Adulthood including good practices and tailored educational material was developed and published to enhance European know-how in this field.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Awareness-Raising Audiovisual Material<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The short film \u201cI Woke Up 18\u201d tells the story of six unaccompanied children living in Greece. One word\u2014&#8221;adult&#8221;\u2014marks a profound shift. The European Commission and the Council of Europe do not accept any responsibility for the use that may be made of the information it contains.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Female Forward<\/span><\/h3>\n<p data-start=\"116\" data-end=\"638\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The bilateral initiative \u201cFemale Forward\u201d strengthened the collaboration between SolidarityNow and the Norwegian NGO Dr\u00e5pen i Havet\/Drop in the Ocean (DiH) through the exchange of know-how and information, expert study visits between Greece and Norway, and the sharing of best practices related to community engagement and the inclusion of women asylum seekers and refugees living in camps or refugee sites. The focus of the activities was the asylum seeker and refugee camp of Nea Kavala\/Polykastro in Northern Greece.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"640\" data-end=\"917\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In total, <strong>272 women<\/strong> from diverse backgrounds participated in the initiative\u2019s activities. The women came from Afghanistan, Iraq, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Syria, and other sub-Saharan countries. Women aged 26\u201344 were particularly active, with 139 participants in this age group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"919\" data-end=\"956\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Implementation period:<\/strong> October 2024 \u2013 June 2024.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Female Forward&#8221; was funded by EEA Grants.<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Harmonizing Protection Practices in Greece (HARP)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The \u201c<strong>Harmonize<\/strong><strong>d protection practices in Greece\u201d (HARP) <\/strong>project was implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM Greece) in collaboration with SolidarityNow and other organizations in 25 open accommodation structures across the country.\u00a0 The project aimed to improve the quality of humanitarian response and protection assistance to migrants hosted within the Greek Reception system. The project was funded by EU-DG Migration and Home Affairs (DG HOME). <strong>Implementation period:<\/strong> January &#8211; December 2022.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SN was responsible for three components of the project:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Provision of legal aid and representation <\/strong>to the residents of (8) sites. The project focused on the protection of the most vulnerable groups such as single-parent households, victims of sexual and gender-based violence, separated minors and children at risk. The team consisted of 7 lawyers and 3 interpreters in 5 cities (Athens, Thessaloniki, Thebes, Chalkida and Kavala) providing legal representation and legal assistance 24 hours a day covering a wide range of cases.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Provision of labor market orientation<\/strong> to the residents of twelve 12 sites aiming to inform and prepare asylum seekers to join the labor market and take the first steps towards self\u2013reliance. SN carried out group information sessions, complemented by individualized counselling, networking with employers and relevant events and activities.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Operation of Female Friendly Spaces <\/strong>in 12 sites. Through the operation of the spaces, SN l promoted women\u2019s empowerment, awareness raising and the prevention of GBV. The spaces brought together women residing in sites to participate in psychoeducational and psychosocial activities, promote healing and encourage peer-to-peer support. The spaces were operated on a daily basis by trained staff (facilitators and interpreters).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The results of the project:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>467 beneficiaries received legal support, 207 cases were handled and 246 legal representations in judicial and other authorities were carried out.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>510 beneficiaries received employability services, and 302 found a job.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>343 women beneficiaries were empowered through the Female Spaces.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Urgent support to unaccompanied minors in temporary accommodation structures in Northern Greece<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SolidarityNow provides care and support services to <strong>175 unaccompanied children<\/strong>, in three temporary accommodation facilities in northern Greece, specifically in the prefectures of Kozani and Ioannina. Unaccompanied minors, who previously lived either in Reception &amp; Identification Centers, or were in custody, are supported by appropriate services (psychosocial support, legal assistance, interpretation, educational and recreational activities, access to medical care, etc.). Watch the video:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"A human net from SolidarityNow for the unaccompanied children (with English subtitles)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AxRZle_uLt0?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong>This emergency intervention was implemented under the general coordination of the Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors, the cooperation of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the support of the European Commission.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Supported Independent Living Apartments for Unaccompanied Children aged 16 or more &#8220;Step by Step&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SolidarityNow offered an alternative form of care for unaccompanied children aged 16 to 18, ultimately aiming towards their social integration. Specifically, through a qualified and multidisciplinary team of professionals, the program provided safe housing in supervised apartments in Athens and Thessaloniki, accompanied by a set of support services (psychosocial support, legal counselling, interpretation, access to medical care, educational and recreational activities, employability counselling, etc), provided by expert professionals of the organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cStep by Step\u201d supported hosted children in several ways: through individualized care and protection; improvement of their skills and capabilities; support in order to formulate and realize their personal goals; and finally, through the reinforcement of their self-confidence and self-reliance, in order to gradually become more autonomous in their transition towards adulthood, and to become active members of the Greek society.<\/span><\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong>The program (MIS:5063334) was funded within the framework of the National Program of the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund and the European Union and implemented with the support of the Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors, and in collaboration with the Public Prosecutors for Minors and the Local Competent Public Prosecutors.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Holistic intervention for the support of Unaccompanied Children in Northern Greece\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The program &#8220;Holistic intervention for the support of Unaccompanied Children in Northern Greece&#8221; started in 2021 funded by IsraAID Germany. The program supported holistically unaccompanied refugee children and children who have recently come of age through legal support, job counseling and recreational, sports and community building activities. The children benefited lived in hostels and accommodation structures in Northern Greece. 319 unaccompanied children were supported through the program with job counseling and 218 unaccompanied children received legal support.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Blue Dot &#8211; Child and Family Care Hubs<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The &#8220;Blue Dot&#8221; program started its operation in 2016 and was implemented until February 2019. The program\u2019s objective was to create &#8220;Blue Dots&#8221;, safe support centers providing child protection services, as well as prevention, and response to gender-based violence. The program was funded by the European Commission, Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations, with UNICEF as the grantee.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">UNICEF established \u201cBlue Dots\u201d along the Balkan corridor through which, at the time, asylum seekers\/refugees were passing through in their attempt to reach Central and Western European countries. SolidarityNow was the main implementing partner in Greece. The basic methodology employed was the holistic and interdisciplinary approach to child protection. Each &#8220;Blue Dot&#8221; consisted of a multidisciplinary team of professionals, namely social workers, psychologists, lawyers, as well as educators\/social scientists trained on the operation of child-friendly spaces, and social scientists trained on the operation of female-friendly spaces.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In November 2017, non-formal education was also added to the Blue Dots. Emphasis was given to children and families in need, aiming to further support them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The program was implemented across different geographical areas of Greece, in places of reception and accommodation of refugees, including the port of Piraeus, the Blue Refugee Center (Refugee Community Center in Thessaloniki), the Blue Dot of Athens (the Migrant Integration Center of the Municipality of Athens) and also in open accommodation sites throughout Greece, especially in Eleusis, Thermopylae, Elaionas, Oinofyta, Malakasa, Lavrio, Thiva, Ritsona, Kato Milia, Aetopetra, Petra Olympos, Oreokastro, Kavalari, Volvi, Drama, Serres, Kavala, Ioannina Filippiada, Doliana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Through the program<strong> 13,727<\/strong> children and their families were supported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><em><strong>The operation of the Child &amp; Family Care Hubs included:<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Child-Friendly Spaces<\/strong> providing\u00b8 psychosocial, recreational, and educational activities for children\u00a0aiming to restore the sense of normality that they have lost during the journey.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Identification, case management and referral of vulnerable persons <\/strong>to specialized services, including vulnerable families, single mothers, people with disabilities or illnesses and children at risk with an emphasis on unaccompanied and separated children. SN cooperated with the local competent Prosecutors&#8217; Offices, the National Center for Social Solidarity, the First Reception and Identification Service, and other institutional stakeholders inside and outside the open accommodation sites, regarding procedures such as:\u00a0 custody assignment to guardians of separated children, Dublin process for family reunification, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Legal assistance and representation for protection issues<\/strong> (such as gender-based violence), as well as all international protection application procedures.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Breastfeeding corners<\/strong> and provision of reproductive, neonatal, and postnatal care and counseling.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Sharing efficient and accurate information<\/strong>to refugees and migrants, about their rights (before and after applying for international protection).<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Provision of l psycho-social\u00a0services<\/strong>,\u00a0and referrals when needed.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Provision of non-formal education and school support<\/strong> for school-age children, with an emphasis on combating school dropouts.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Child and Family Support Hubs (CFSH)<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Child and Family Support Hubs program was supported by UNICEF Greece and IOM Greece, with funding from the EU, DG HOME, in the framework of the program &#8220;Supporting the Greek Authorities in Managing the National Reception System for Asylum Seekers and Vulnerable Migrants\u201d. The Child and Family Support Hubs were developed on the existing root of the Blue Dot program from February 2019 to October 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The CFSH were expanded to new locations and joined the wider framework of providing services in open refugee accommodation structures of the SMS Project, with the International Organization for Migration being the main partner. The scientific teams (consisting of social workers, psychologists, lawyers, as well as educators\/social scientists trained in the operation of women-friendly spaces) provided non-formal education to children and adolescents with an emphasis on child protection. The field teams were active in the prevention and response of child protection incidents, providing psychosocial support, legal counseling, and representation where necessary (e.g., cases of gender-based violence). Cooperation with the local authorities continued and strengthened (locally competent Prosecutors&#8217; Offices, EKKA, and later with the Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors (SSPUM) of the Ministry of Immigration and Asylum). The identification of unaccompanied and separated children remained one of the main priorities of the program. At the same time, non-formal education teachers provided lessons (Greek, English, math\/science) and school support, aiming to prevent dropouts, and improving child&#8217;s educational level and life skills. The program objective was the provision of holistic protection and non-formal education services, with personalized adjustments based on individual needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The program was implemented in different locations in open accommodation sites: Andravida, Vagiochori, Volvi, Drama, Elaionas, Thermopyles, Serres, Thiva, Kavala, Kato Milia, Pieria, Malakasa, Oinophyta, Ritsona.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Through the program 17,543 children and their families have been supported.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Hosting and Accommodation programs<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">From April 2016 to August 2021, SolidarityNow implemented innovative accommodation programs for refugees and asylums seekers. <strong>The aim of the program was to ameliorate the everyday life of those people, to help them become more autonomous and to be appropriately prepared to claim their rights and take charge as well as responsibility for their new lives.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Accommodation program was implemented all over Greece in Attika, Thessaloniki, in Ioannina and in the island of Tilos. The program included collective housing, autonomous accommodation, and shelters for particularly vulnerable groups, to respond efficiently to the urgent needs of providing quality accommodation solutions within the urban landscape.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">SolidarityNow created the Athens Social Service Center, where relevant services were provided by the program\u2019s social workers, to promote self-reliance of the beneficiaries, community engagement but also local integration.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since the beginning of the program, SolidarityNow provided a plethora of quality services to those in need, through qualified and experienced professionals<strong>,\u00a0<\/strong>such as information, interpretation, psychological support, referral to medical services, entertaining and educational activities. These services aimed to help our beneficiaries make their living better and smoothly integrate to the Greek society.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">In addition, through the Accommodation program, SolidarityNow supported the local economy, mainly with the renting of vacant apartments in the urban areas.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><u>Specialized needs, specialized structures<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The\u00a0<strong>Accommodation &amp; Services Programs\u00a0<\/strong>dealt with different types of structures which corresponded to different needs, such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Housing in independent apartments, buildings and hostels for most beneficiaries of the programs.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Guesthouse for Young Adults Refugees and Asylum seekers in Athens. In cooperation with the Society for the Care of Minors, SolidarityNow hosted a total of 25 young men, aged 18-22.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Special accommodation and support program called \u201cSafe Refugee\u201d for the LGBTQI+ refugees.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tilos \u2013 Pilot Program for Social Coexistence, which has been an example of a locally-funded international project, through which local communities have welcomed refugees by supporting them and making sure they have a smooth integration in the society.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">You can read the program&#8217;s statistics<\/span> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/%CE%91CCOMMODATION_ENG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h6><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><em>ESTIA, the Emergency Support to Integration and Accommodation programme, was implemented by UNHCR and funded by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Not Alone in Europe<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cNot Alone in Europe\u201d (Innovative Youth Work and Intersectional Practices for Young Migrants, Refugees, and Asylum Seekers) project pursued the double aim of educating and training youth workers who are meeting young LGBTQ+ migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers. <strong>Implementation: June 2019 &#8211; June 2021.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">Initially, \u201cNot Alone in Europe\u201d offered a train-the-trainer course for youth workers meeting young LGBTQI+ migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in order to make them more confident with intersectional approaches in their work and how to include LGBTQI+ perspectives in their work. The aim of the train-the-trainer course was to enable the participants to implement the \u201cNot alone in Europe\u201d workshops in their own cities. This ultimately resulted in the creation of a network for support and visibility for young LGBTQI+ migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. It also intended to contribute to strengthening the collaboration between all stakeholders supporting the LGBTQI+ refugee community and acted as an accelerator of social change. Furthermore, it sought to support LGBTQI+ refugees &amp; asylum seekers and facilitated the pathway towards social inclusion and integration in Greece.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>The project included:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Sensitization training and information sessions regarding the legal framework and the asylum procedure<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Workshops to facilitate access to and support the integration into the labor market<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Capacity-building of stakeholders that serve this group<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Relevant awareness-raising events<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h6><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u03a4he project was implemented by SolidarityNow and supported by the Municipality of Barcelona and the foundation ACSAR.<\/span><\/em><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Following their Footsteps<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The closure of the borders and the Balkan route resulted in several thousands of people being trapped in Greece. Among them, the most vulnerable group: unaccompanied and separated children. More specifically, the program aimed to provide these children <strong>social integration opportunities, enhance the effectiveness of the existing support network in Athens<\/strong> and contributed decisively to reducing the\u00a0<strong>phenomenon of absconding from accommodation structures<\/strong> through advocacy for the development of a specific national policy.\u00a0<\/span><em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The project was funded by EPIM<\/span> (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.gr\/url?sa=t&amp;rct=j&amp;q=&amp;esrc=s&amp;source=web&amp;cd=1&amp;cad=rja&amp;uact=8&amp;ved=0ahUKEwjMzouchNPQAhXBaxQKHcDWDvUQFggeMAA&amp;url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.epim.info%2F&amp;usg=AFQjCNEuZnz2SxZswbTYrY_Mz8Or5CQr8g&amp;sig2=lMytrff0hAhAFlkC6rZosA&amp;bvm=bv.139782543,d.d24\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">European Programme for Integration and Migration<\/a>).<\/em><\/h6>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><strong>Care4Solidarity<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>SolidarityNow<\/strong> and CARE International (within the START Network), implemented a program that responded to the vital food needs of vulnerable populations, including refugees, asylum seekers, migrants, unemployed Greeks, and any other groups with urgent nutritional needs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Care4Solidarity<\/strong> helped to fill the gap between groups who were in need of food assistance, but were excluded from the relevant public assistance programs.
