{"id":14449,"date":"2024-03-12T11:24:14","date_gmt":"2024-03-12T11:24:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/?p=14449"},"modified":"2024-03-12T11:25:07","modified_gmt":"2024-03-12T11:25:07","slug":"social-scientist-41","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/en\/social-scientist-41\/","title":{"rendered":"SOCIAL SCIENTIST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starting Date: ASAP<\/p>\n<p>Status: Full Time\/ Fixed-term<\/p>\n<p>Child Safeguarding Policy: Level 3 \u2013 Job holder will have regular contact with children.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Reports To: <\/strong>Project Area Manager<\/p>\n<p>Child Safeguarding Policy: Level 3 \u2013 The job holder will have regular contact with children<\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Duties &amp; Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In collaboration with the teaching staff, identify and provide individualized support to children with psychosocial and\/or special educational needs and\/or disabilities;<\/li>\n<li>Undertake and complete enrolments in formal education for migrant\/refugee children who are out of school.<\/li>\n<li>Promote and enable school access for refugee\/migrant children through the provision of technical and administrative support to parents and education stakeholders (RECs, public school administration and teaching staff etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Conduct regular mapping of beneficiaries, needs assessment and service mapping ensuring the access of refugee\/migrant children to formal education and non-formal education\/after-school support opportunities.<\/li>\n<li>Perform social work duties and undertake procedures\u2019 implementation when referral(s) to other services are required, within the Athens Solidarity Center services or external partners\/organizations etc.<\/li>\n<li>Organize an identification and referral system for children at risk including services such as medical, legal, psychological, WASH, shelter etc;<\/li>\n<li>Organize and facilitate awareness-raising and group psychosocial support activities, with a support of a psychologist when needed, on a broad range of issues for children as part of the life skills and psychosocial development and learning process inside the classroom;<\/li>\n<li>Organize and facilitate parents\u2019 meetings and provide specialized support to parents combating school dropout and resolving challenges that might arise regarding school attendance and children\u2019s needs;<\/li>\n<li>Regular reporting and data keeping.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Required qualifications and skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>University degree in Social Work, or other Social Science (e.g. Psychology);<\/li>\n<li>Minimum one-year professional experience in social work within the civil society sector, preferably working with vulnerable groups and refugees\/migrants;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team;<\/li>\n<li>Ability to troubleshoot and ease potential tensions between the project\u2019s beneficiaries;<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in a job entailing direct contact and exchange with vulnerable groups of beneficiaries is an asset;<\/li>\n<li>Fluency in Greek and English required;<\/li>\n<li>Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word business software;<\/li>\n<li>Experience in community mobilization;<\/li>\n<li>Cross-cultural awareness and flexibility;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with parents and children of all ages, background and diversity;<\/li>\n<li>Strong team player and able to handle pressure well;<\/li>\n<li>Well organized and efficient, with ability to organize and prioritize workload, using initiative when appropriate;<\/li>\n<li>Good report writing skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are interested in applying, please send your CV and motivation letter to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:thes-recruitment@solidaritynow.org\">recruitment@solidaritynow.org<\/a>\u00a0mentioning in the email subject\u00a0<strong>\u201cSN Social Scientist _HCAC Athens\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SN is an equal opportunity employer.
