This means that many will be left without access to healthcare and basic rights, exposed to poverty, homelessness, exploitation, or even prolonged detention.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"589\" data-end=\"619\"><strong>Specifically, the EU proposal:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"904\">\n<li data-start=\"621\" data-end=\"686\">\n<p data-start=\"623\" data-end=\"686\">Extends detention up to 24 months, even for children.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"687\" data-end=\"752\">\n<p data-start=\"689\" data-end=\"752\">Allows member states to create offshore \u201creturn centers\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"753\" data-end=\"838\">\n<p data-start=\"755\" data-end=\"838\">Strengthens racial profiling practices and invasive digital surveillance.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li data-start=\"839\" data-end=\"904\">\n<p data-start=\"841\" data-end=\"904\">Restricts the right to appeal and effective legal remedies.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"1231\"><strong data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"989\">207 civil society organizations across Europe unite and call for its rejection.<\/strong><br data-start=\"989\" data-end=\"992\" \/>We urge the Commission to <strong data-start=\"1018\" data-end=\"1043\">withdraw the proposal<\/strong>, and the European Parliament and Council to <strong data-start=\"1088\" data-end=\"1114\">reject this Regulation<\/strong> and instead <strong data-start=\"1127\" data-end=\"1190\">invest in policies that uphold dignity, support integration<\/strong>, and allow all people to live in safety.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"906\" data-end=\"1231\"><strong>Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ENG_Final-Statement-for-launch_15-Sep.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Deportation cannot be the cornerstone of migration policy in Europe.
