On top of Greece\u2019s internal problems and challenges, a complex migration related crisis and the current capital controls and closures of financial institutions, further aggravates the overall situation, exposing also the state mechanism\u2019s weaknesses and limitations to deal with it.
\nIt is a crucial time for civil society to stand forward, claim and work towards not only meeting immediate relief needs but also towards safeguarding vulnerable populations protection, respect of the rule of law and re-establishment of basic human rights and welfare agenda.
\nThe overarching objective of this programme is poverty reduction in the context of sustainable development, including the pursuit of the Millennium Development Goals (MDG). It is an \u201cactor-oriented\u201d programme that aims at strengthening the capacity of civil society organizations and local authorities as a pre-condition for a more equitable, open and democratic society through support to their \u201cown initiatives\u201d.
\nThe applicants are required to clearly demonstrate in their proposals how the capacity building aspect will be part of the action.<\/p>\n
The call refers to actions that will take place in the region of Thessaloniki.<\/p>\n
