Position: Head of Accountants <\/strong><\/p>\n

Location<\/strong>: Athens (Nationwide Travel might be requested)<\/p>\n

Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Handles the full spectrum of financial and cost accounting;<\/li>\n
  • Is responsible for day to day finance and accounts operations;<\/li>\n
  • Develops and Maintains Internal Controls by defining accounting policies and procedures;<\/li>\n
  • Is responsible for the Plan of Accounts and monitoring Accounting Entries;<\/li>\n
  • Characterizes invoices before they are handed to accountants for entry, according to the Plan of Accounts.<\/li>\n
  • Does the accounting entries for payroll monthly;<\/li>\n
  • Assists accountants with accounting entries;<\/li>\n
  • Follows and ensures adherence to Accounting and Tax laws;<\/li>\n
  • Prepares and submits Tax Returns and Social Security statements;<\/li>\n
  • Reconciles online Tax submissions (\u039a\u0395\u03a0\u03a5\u039f);<\/li>\n
  • Is responsible for the preparation of timely monthly consolidated Financial Statements, Payments, Cash-flow management and Financial Reporting to stakeholders;<\/li>\n
  • Is responsible for the annual closing of accounts;<\/li>\n
  • Manages fixed asset accounting;<\/li>\n
  • Monitors supplier accounts;<\/li>\n
  • Monitors donation tax;<\/li>\n
  • Participates in financial evaluation of Vendors;<\/li>\n
  • Achieves accounting operational objectives by contributing accounting information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews;<\/li>\n
  • Participates in Financial Audits by coordinating preparation of financial documentation required;<\/li>\n
  • Guides other departments with regards to the accounting policy; applying observations and recommendations to operational issues;<\/li>\n
  • Resolves problems; determines system improvements; implements change;<\/li>\n
  • Protects organization by keeping information confidential;<\/li>\n
  • Works consultatively with operational departments on cost reduction initiatives<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • Education: University Degree in Finance and\/or Accounting (Master\u2019s degree or Professional Certifications in Accounting highly desirable)<\/li>\n
    • Excellent knowledge of latest Greek Tax and Accounting Policies and Standards and associated regulatory issues and trends;<\/li>\n
    • Thorough knowledge and experience in double entry bookkeeping;<\/li>\n
    • Deep understanding and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);<\/li>\n
    • Solid work experience of at least 15 years as an Accountant in a certified Accounting Practice;<\/li>\n
    • Experience of European Programs and reporting would be an advantage;<\/li>\n
    • Work experience at an NGO would be an advantage, but not a prerequisite;<\/li>\n
    • Very good knowledge of Accounting Software packages (knowledge of Union Accounting Software and Microsoft accounting solutions would be an asset)<\/li>\n
    • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel<\/li>\n
    • Good analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail and determination to meet deadlines;<\/li>\n
    • Experience of Managing a team;<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;<\/li>\n
    • Excellent strategic planning skills and ability to interact with all levels;<\/li>\n
    • Effective communication skills (both written and oral) in Greek and English;<\/li>\n
    • Ability to work well under pressure;<\/li>\n
    • Demonstrated capacity and willingness to learn;<\/li>\n
    • Professional attitude towards work;<\/li>\n
    • Pro-active and results oriented<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
