{"id":4929,"date":"2018-03-01T15:38:49","date_gmt":"2018-03-01T15:38:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/?p=4929"},"modified":"2018-03-01T15:38:49","modified_gmt":"2018-03-01T15:38:49","slug":"kurdish-interpreter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/en\/kurdish-interpreter\/","title":{"rendered":"Kurdish Interpreter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Position: Kurdish Interpreter<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong>: Athens<\/p>\n<p><strong>Starting Date<\/strong>: ASAP<\/p>\n<p><strong>Status:<\/strong>\u00a0 Full Time<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Child Safeguarding Policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<table style=\"height: 69px;\" width=\"812\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td width=\"92\"><strong>Level 3 <\/strong><\/td>\n<td width=\"356\">The job holder will have regular contact with children<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Provide accurate and complete interpretation;<\/li>\n<li>Interpret orally during interviews with Persons of Concern to SN into specified languages maintaining message content, context, and style as much as possible;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that the messages transmitted are properly understood;<\/li>\n<li>Provide interpretation in a neutral and non-judgmental manner;<\/li>\n<li>Not accept payment or favor from or on behalf of persons of concern<\/li>\n<li>Not engage in contact or exchanges with persons of concern to SN that might undermine his\/her impartiality as an interpreter or the fairness and integrity of SN procedures;<\/li>\n<li>Carry out his\/her responsibilities in a manner that is consistent with SN standards for cultural, gender and age sensitivity;<\/li>\n<li>Occasionally carry out written translations from one language to another;<\/li>\n<li>Any ties, professional or personal, with the beneficiary shall be confined to ONLY interpretation services;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>REQUIREMENTS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Oral and written language skills in <strong>Greek and\/or English<\/strong> <strong><u>and<\/u><\/strong> excellent command of both of the following languages:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Kurmanji\/Sorani<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent interpretation skills;<\/li>\n<li>University or other post-secondary education in interpretation is desirable;<\/li>\n<li>Minimum (2) years of relevant experience with an NGO;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural team;<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and understanding of the asylum situation in Greece and related vocabulary is desirable;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you are interested in applying, please send your CV and motivation letter to <a href=\"mailto:recruitment@solidaritynow.org\">recruitment@solidaritynow.org<\/a> by\u201d <strong>Friday, March 09, 2018<\/strong>, mentioning in the email subject <strong>\u201cSN Kurdish_Athens\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SN is an equal opportunity employer.
