Since its inception in 1991, the international campaign galvanizes concrete actions to ultimately bring the number of women\u00a0and girls\u00a0who experience\u00a0any and all forms of\u00a0violence down to zero.\u00a0It was the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/documents\/ga\/res\/48\/a48r104.htm\">United Nations Declaration on the Elimination of Violence\u00a0against<\/a>\u00a0Women of 1993 that\u00a0first amplified the\u00a0issue\u00a0as a violation of human rights\u00a0and\u00a0demanded international recognition of it as such.<\/p>\n<p>It\u00a0is time we\u00a0put an end to violence against women so that an international day of action is no longer needed.\u00a0Help spread the word\u00a0and participate in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unwomen.org\/-\/media\/headquarters\/attachments\/sections\/what%20we%20do\/evaw\/16days-2018-conceptnote-compressed.pdf?la=en&amp;vs=3924\">16 Days of Activism\u00a0for the UN\u2019s\u00a0UNiTE\u00a0Campaign<\/a>. This year\u2019s theme is\u00a0<em>Orange the World: #<\/em><em>HearMeToo<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0you can contribute to\u00a0advocating for specific\u00a0policy and legislative\u00a0changes and\u00a0amplifying the\u00a0diverse\u00a0voices of women.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u00a0or someone you know is victim of domestic violence, that are people and services available to hear you and support you.
