{"id":6952,"date":"2019-04-11T14:33:14","date_gmt":"2019-04-11T14:33:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/?p=6952"},"modified":"2019-04-11T14:33:51","modified_gmt":"2019-04-11T14:33:51","slug":"cfsh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.solidaritynow.org\/en\/cfsh\/","title":{"rendered":"[:el]\u03a0\u03b5\u03c1\u03b9\u03c3\u03c3\u03cc\u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2 \u03b1\u03c0\u03cc 14.500 \u03b5\u03bd\u03ae\u03bb\u03b9\u03ba\u03b5\u03c2 \u03ba\u03b1\u03b9 \u03c0\u03b1\u03b9\u03b4\u03b9\u03ac \u03c0\u03c1\u03cc\u03c3\u03c6\u03c5\u03b3\u03b5\u03c2 \u03c5\u03c0\u03bf\u03c3\u03c4\u03ae\u03c1\u03b9\u03be\u03b1\u03bd \u03c4\u03b1 \u039a\u03ad\u03bd\u03c4\u03c1\u03b1 \u03a0\u03b1\u03b9\u03b4\u03b9\u03ba\u03ae\u03c2 \u03ba\u03b1\u03b9 \u039f\u03b9\u03ba\u03bf\u03b3\u03b5\u03bd\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1\u03ba\u03ae\u03c2 \u03a6\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd\u03c4\u03af\u03b4\u03b1\u03c2 \u03c4\u03b7\u03c2 \u03bf\u03c1\u03b3\u03ac\u03bd\u03c9\u03c3\u03b7\u03c2[:en]The Child and Family Support Hubs have provided support to more than 14,500 adult and child refugees [:]"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During the three years, (August 2016-February 2019), of the <strong>Child and Family Support Hubs\u2019 <\/strong>operation by SolidarityNow in refugee camps of mainland Greece, <strong>more than 14,500 people<\/strong>, adults, and especially women and children, <strong>have been supported to regain their lives but also to be empowered for their next big step: their inclusion in our society.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>SolidarityNow, with the support of UNICEF, brought to completion the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> phase (November 2017-February 2019) of the innovative <strong>Child and Family Support Hubs program (CFSH). \u201c<em>The program has adapted many times to the changing needs of the refugee crisis in Greece<\/em><\/strong>. <strong><em>Hence, non-formal education was included as one of the main pillars of the program, alongside child protection and the prevention and treatment of gender violence&#8221;<\/em><\/strong>, underlines <strong>Christiana Kyrkou, SolidarityNow program\u2019s Coordinator. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Focusing on the refugees\u2019 social integration and on strengthening their autonomy, the<strong> Child and Family Support Hubs were operational in more than 20 different sites <\/strong>in Attica, Epirus, Central and Northern Greece, with their specialized field teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>The CFSH program\u2019s achievements:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>7,363 the total number of beneficiaries: <\/strong>3,829 children and 3,534 adults<\/li>\n<li><strong>2,774 children<\/strong> benefited from the Child Friendly Spaces<\/li>\n<li><strong>2,221 refugees and children<\/strong> received psychosocial support<\/li>\n<li><strong>2,133 women and girls<\/strong> had access to the Female Friendly Spaces<\/li>\n<li><strong>724 children under the age of 2,<\/strong> accompanied by their mothers, had access to the neonatal and postnatal counseling facilities-Mother Baby Corner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A further great achievement is that during the program\u2019s implementation children and families of high vulnerability were identified and referred to specialized services in order to receive the necessary support:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>332 unaccompanied children<\/strong> and <strong>106 people with disabilities <\/strong>were referred to receive additional support<\/li>\n<li><strong>286 children, male and female victims of gender violence<\/strong> were identified and received specialized support and care<\/li>\n<li><strong>3,017 adults and children<\/strong> in total received legal support<\/li>\n<li><strong>3,229 referrals<\/strong> of people with health problems (physical injuries, illness) to health services<\/li>\n<li><strong>270 referrals<\/strong> of people with mental health problems to competent services<\/li>\n<li><strong>904 children<\/strong> were referred to formal or non-formal educational services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Two-way education!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The identification and referral of vulnerable beneficiaries were facilitated by the daily contact of teachers with their students. In total:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>3,562 children and adults<\/strong> attended courses and received school support<\/li>\n<li><strong>34 teachers<\/strong> were specialized in the education of refugees and migrants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;<em>Is there a difference among children growing up in peacetime and children who have experienced displacement? Yes, there is. However, this difference can be soothed with the right support as time goes by. This way childhood is proven to be strong enough to prevail over a dreadful experience. For example, the children\u2019s drawings show us that a more beautiful world is feasible<\/em>&#8220;, says Sofia Tzelepi, one of the program\u2019s lawyers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 2019 target: Child Protection and Education in 13 sites across the country<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>SolidarityNow, with support from UNICEF, IOM (International Organization for Migration) and funding by the European Union, continues the program&#8217;s implementation in 2019 by scaling up to present in 13 locations, providing holistic child protection and non-formal education services through the Hubs. <strong><em>\u201cWith the dynamic presence of our teams in 13 sites, we aim to support the interconnection of the local community with the local camp, strengthen the refugees\u2019 openness and build on the local organizations\u2019 capabilities so that they also take an active role since the great challenge now is the inclusion to local communities\u201d, <\/em><\/strong>underlines <strong>Marietta Provopoulou, Deputy General Manager<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><em>*The program is implemented with the support of UNICEF &#8211; until 2018 it was funded by the European Civil Protection &amp; Humanitarian Aid Operations (ECHO).
