SolidarityNow introduces a Cookbook with Recipes and Gastronomy Secrets <\/strong><\/p>\n by Women Refugees in Greece<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u201cOne of the authentic cultural elements of a place is its gastronomy. The uniqueness of the cuisine of a region is often linked to the qualitative characteristics of its society, while also \u2018revealing\u2019 elements of its cultural and economic history.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n At the same time, taste seems to be a way of communication; a way to \u2018talk\u2019 to someone else\u2019s heart\u201d<\/em><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n With these words, Antigone Lyberaki, General Manager of SolidarityNow<\/strong>, introduces to the public the organization\u2019s Cookbook entitled #TasteMyWorld<\/strong>, a multicultural edition aiming to \u2018talk\u2019 to the heart of everyone, through food and taste.<\/p>\n Cook, Hope, Love<\/strong><\/p>\n The idea of collecting and putting recipes on paper, the ones cooked daily by women \u2013 beneficiaries of SolidarityNow at the Open Accommodation structures where the Child and Family Support Hubs* program is implemented, goes to Irene Polykreti, the Women Friendly Space Facilitator:<\/p>\n \u201cThe goal was not just an exchange of ideas and the mingling of recipes, but above all, for their creators to remember again how many things they can do in their own unique way and how much they can teach us. As we noted, the quantities and methods of execution, women narrated, either the importance of the dish to their culture or stories about significant events in their lives linked to the recipe\u201d.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n Women who cooked together at the Gastronomy Museum in Athens shared the importance of each dish for themselves, spoke** paving the way and the foundations for the creation of the Cookbook. \u201cWhen I cook this dish, I feel so good because you can\u2019t eat it on your own. You\u2019re definitely expecting people to come<\/em>\u201d, says Zakia from Morocco<\/strong>. \u201cThe scent of Dorho in the neighborhood means that the festive period has arrived<\/em>\u201d, says Rout from Eritrea, <\/strong>while Bibi from Afghanistan remembers that the first time she ever cooked Kuku was for her husband, once they got married, and says that \u201cyou make Kuku when you feel like it<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cCooking connects the past with the future\u201d, <\/em><\/strong>according to Irene Polykretis and taste is a sense and a way to communication, a way to connect us. Everyone -regardless of origin, gender, religion.
