Position: Head of Program Implementation

Location: Athens (Nationwide Travel might be requested)

Starting Date: ASAP

Status:  Part Time

Responsibilities will include:

Management of all Program Implementation sectors

  • Leads the initiation of project proposal and concept development
  • Provides supervision and management for all SN projects and leads the establishment and functioning of strong, effective and coordinated projects Implementation teams.
  • Manages the complete life-cycle of projects within his/her assigned portfolio, from proposal development to grants closeout
  • Ensures project/program implementation is on time, on target and on budget
  • Develops and oversees program implementation strategies, including partnership frameworks, beneficiary targeting etc
  • Ensures that required technical support is provided to the implementation teams and that implementation is standardized across different units, teams and areas

Grants management

  • Oversees resources and grants management to ensure that projects are managed in a manner which achieves the program/project goals, in line with SN policies and objectives;
  • Manages a small portfolio of re-granting grants or as delineated by applicable donor

Staff Management and Development

  • Ensures appropriate and accountable staffing within the projects implementation teams
  • Manages the projects implementation teams and provide technical support as required; Manages the performance of all project staff
  • Incorporates staff development strategies and Performance Management Systems into team building processes; is responsible for capacity building and mentoring of program/project officers to ensure they develop their capacities to manage sector portfolios and projects

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years of senior management experience in a humanitarian/development context, including significant field experience
  • Master’s degree in relevant field, or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge and experience of NGO humanitarian/development program cycle management and experience of working within a complex organizational structure
  • Thorough understanding of refugee/IDPs response and of the Greece specific context
  • Very good knowledge of international humanitarian systems, institutions and donors, and of procedures, accountability frameworks and best practices in emergency management
  • Substantial experience and knowledge of effective financial and budgetary control and securing and managing grants from major institutional donors
