Position: Human Resources officer

Location: Thessaloniki

Starting Date: ASAP

Status:  Full Time

Job purpose

The post holder is expected to provide support in the various human resource functions, which include recruitment, payroll administration, training need analysis and HR development, performance monitoring and employee counseling.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Recruiting staff, which involves developing job descriptions, preparing job adverts, checking application forms, shortlisting, interviewing and selecting candidates;
  • Administering monthly payroll and maintaining employee records;
  • Interpreting and advising on employment law;
  • Monitoring staff performance in cooperation with the line managers and employee counseling;
  • Developing and implementing policies on issues like working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities etc.;
  • Working closely with SN departments and assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures;
  • Preparing staff handbooks;
  • Advising on pay and other remuneration issues and undertaking regular salary reviews;
  • Developing HR planning strategies;
  • Delivering induction sessions for new staff;
  • Analyzing training needs in conjunction with departmental managers.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • University degree from an accredited academic in Humanities or Social Sciences preferably in Human Resource Management;
  • Experience in similar position for at least five years, preferably in NGO context;
  • Very good knowledge of payroll functions and procedures;
  • Confidentiality concerning financial and employee files skills;
  • Fluency in Greek and English language;
  • Strong interpersonal & communications skills;
  • Sound work ethics;
  • Well organized and efficient;
  • Ability to work under pressure;
  • Strong IT skills (excel, word, internet, etc.)

Desired:

  • Previous experience in the humanitarian or the non-profit sector.
