Job Description: The Regional Education Expert will be responsible for organizing a two-day regional Conference on the topic of “Inequalities in Education” as part of the Regional Activities of the Active Citizens Fund Programme. The position holder will work closely with the Deputy Director and Communications Manager. She/He will be responsible for the smooth organization of the Conference, network with all relevant stakeholders at national and regional/ EU level, ensure high attendance and visibility to the Conference, while also contribute to strengthen or establish new partnerships in the education sector at national and regional level.

The Active Citizens Fund in Greece is supported through a € 12m grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway as part of the EEA Grants 2014 – 2021 financial mechanism. The program aims to develop the sustainability and capacity of the civil society sector in Greece, and to strengthen its role in promoting and safeguarding democratic procedures, active citizenship and human rights. The Fund Operator for the Active Citizens Fund in Greece is Bodossaki Foundation in consortium with SolidarityNow.

 Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the organization of a two-day Conference in Athens within the first quarter of 2024.
  • Cooperate with the Fund Operator(s) of the Active citizen fund programmes in at least one other EU Member State with the objective to co-organize the regional Conference.
  • Cooperate with the procurement department of the Organization, identify suitable venue, monitor and supervise all related services (catering, audiovisual equipment, translation/ interpretation, etc).
  • Cooperate with external partners/suppliers and the Communications department of the Organization to create promotional/communication material, including invitations to participating speakers and delegates.
  • Cooperate with the travel agency for travel and accommodation arrangements of the participating speakers and delegates from other EU MS
  • Identify and invite all speakers and participants
  • Assure compliance of the Organization with the relevant legislation for the lawful organization and implementation of the two-day Conference.
  • Develop partnerships and synergies with civil society organizations, relevant local and regional bodies
  • Manage any extraordinary issues and resolve problems that may arise on the days of the event
  • Conduct/collect and analyze evaluations from delegates before/after the event
  • Prepare a final report on the outcome of the two-day Conference in English and Greek
  • Provide consultation regarding new educational partnerships
  • Carry out other general tasks (such as translations, meetings, etc) that may arise

Job Requirements / Skills Required

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience
  • Bachelor and Master’s degree in relevant field (i.e. education, humanities, social sciences, communications)
  • Sound knowledge and experience of the education sector at national and EU level
  • Sound knowledge and experience of the civil society sector at national and EU level
  • Project management skills regarding event planning, budgeting, time management and scheduling
  • Fluency in Greek and English
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint).
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Confidence in working on own initiative, while being part of a team
  • Team player
  • Excellent communications skills
