On the occasion of World Poetry Day, children participating in the educational programme of the SolidarityNow Athens Solidarity Center created their own poems using the Blackout Poetry* technique.  

Through this creative process, the children experimented with words, discovering new ways of expression and giving new meaning to existing texts. Using excerpts from the newspaper “Migratory Birds” by the Network for Children’s Rights, they selected words to compose their own short poems.  

The result is a collection of personal and authentic creations that reflect the children’s imagination and perspective. Through this process, poetry becomes an open space for creativity, where every word can take on a new life.  

*Blackout Poetry is a technique where you remove or cover words from a text to create a new poem.
