Building on SN’s methodology of activating the “educational triangle” of students, parents and teachers, the project delivers after-school and homework support in Roma-majority schools and settlements, inclusive education trainings for teachers and education stakeholders, Roma parental support groups, a participatory awareness-raising campaign, and a Policy Brief on Inclusive Education for Roma Children.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with Roma communities in the project locations, building and maintaining relationships of trust with families, community members, Roma-led organisations, municipal services and other stakeholders.
- Act as a bridge between Roma families, schools and the project team, facilitating communication and mutual understanding.
- Work with school staff to support the participation, attendance and inclusion of Roma students, and follow up on children at risk of dropping out in close collaboration with the Education Expert.
- Work with Roma parents, encouraging their engagement in their children’s education and supporting the organisation and facilitation of the Roma parental support groups.
- Support the implementation of the non-formal education activities (after-school and homework support), including outreach to children and families.
- Consult with the Education Expert and Roma Advisory Board on community needs, cultural considerations and emerging issues, ensuring that project activities remain relevant and culturally sensitive.
- Contribute to the development of the Policy Brief on Inclusive Education for Roma Children, including gathering input from communities, parents, teachers and the Roma Advisory Board and support the relevant advocacy and dissemination activities.
- Work closely with the Communications team on the awareness-raising campaign, contributing to its idea, concept and execution, and facilitating the participatory process through which Roma children and youth shape its key messages.
- Design and implement the projects’ overall communication and dissemination activities, including launch and closing events as well as community engagement events and activities, in collaboration with SN’s comms team.
- Contribute to monitoring and data collection and to the preparation of project reports.
- Ensure compliance with SN’s Child Safeguarding Policy and child protection standards across all project activities.
Qualifications
- Proven experience of working with Roma communities (minimum 2 years), e.g. community work, mediation, outreach or educational support for Roma children, youth and families (Mandatory Requirement).
- University degree in Education, Social Sciences, Communications, or a related field; relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Experience in awareness-raising, communication or participatory activities with children and young people will be considered an asset.

- Good organizational skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Greek (written and spoken); knowledge of Romani is a strong asset. Knowledge of English is an asset.
