Job Overview

The Financial Officer supports the effective, efficient, and accurate delivery of financial and administrative operations. The role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Financial Operations & Accounting
  • Perform day-to-day processing of financial transactions.
  • Receive, verify, and process invoices.
  • Maintain listings of accounts receivable and accounts payable.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Maintain financial files and records according to organisation policies.
  • Identify and resolve invoicing issues, accounting discrepancies, and other finance-related problems.
  1. Financial Monitoring & Reporting
  • Support financial administration and overall financial management of programmes.
  • Work with the finance team for the preparation of reports.
  1. Data & Records Management
  • Perform accurate data entry for financial and administrative purposes.
  • Ensure all financial documentation is stored securely and systematically.
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguard employees and organizational information.

Qualifications 

Essential:

  • University degree in Economics, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited institution; Experience in similar position for at least 1 year, preferably in NGO environment;
  • Experience in tax and social security legislation and bookkeeping;
  • Experience in effective budgetary control;
  • Fluency in Greek and English;
  • Strong interpersonal & communications skills;
  • Excellent organizational skills with high accuracy and attention to detail; ;
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team;
  • Strong IT skills (excel, word, internet, etc.);
  • High level of integrity, sound work ethics, and sense of responsibility

Desired:

  • Previous experience working with NGOs;
  • Experience in monitoring funded projects;
  • Experience in preparing financial statements, budgets and reports.
