Noureddine chose to build a new life in Greece the moment he became an adult, determined to carve out a better future. A true polyglot—fluent in Arabic, French, Italian, and Greek—he’s a resilient and skilled man who takes life as it comes, saying simply, “C’est la vie.”

For years, he worked successfully in Athens as a HVAC technician. “I’m good at what I do,” he says with pride. “I love my work and people love me for it.” But then everything changed when a serious issue disrupted his life.

Throughout his life in Greece, Noureddine faced the constant stress of renewing his residence permits, essential to live and work legally. When his life took a turn, he knew he needed a different path – one that would allow him to live without fear in Greece. That’s when he turned to the Athens Solidarity Center for help.

At the legal service, he shared his story, beginning with his signature phrase: “C’est la vie.”  With support from the legal team, he applied for and received a residence permit on humanitarian grounds.

“My lawyer at the Center is like family. I know that whatever I need, he’ll be there to help.”

Today, Noureddine lives with dignity, supported by people who stand by him, just as any of us might need one day. “I didn’t fully understand the word solidarity before,” he says. “Now I do. I see what it truly means in my own life.”
