The journalist Alexia Vlachou by the Chinese News Agency visited the organization’s Solidarity Center in Athens so as to speak with two women-beneficiaries of the educational program Business4YOUth which is implemented by SolidarityNow. Fariba from Afghanistan has started her own business of making backpacks from the rubber of the inflatable boats that refugees used to cross Aegean Sea and Samin from Iran is a very talented make-up artist. The journalist, Margarita Pournara by Kathimerini dedicates an article to SolidarityNow and the implemented work and achievements throughout its 6-year operation. The extended tribute includes moments of the organization’s annual event -and cake cutting for the new year- as well as statements by the Chairman of the SN Bod, Mr. Zavvos and the guest speakers, Jean Plotner, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Greece and Mr. Giannitsis, Academic and former Minister of Labor.

Dominika Spyratou, the organization’s Advocacy Officer, commented on the National Integration Strategy, which the Ministry of Migration Policy submitted to the Ministry of Migration on 15 January. The Strategy will remain for comments and recommendations until February 15^th. SolidarityNow welcomes the integration strategy although it notes the existence of some gaps and shortcomings it contains.

«Θέλω τα παιδιά μου να πάνε σχολείο. Να μάθουν ελληνικά. Θέλω να μάθουν και να κάνουν περισσότερα από μένα». Σαΐντ, 27 ετών, μέλος της κοινότητας των Ροχίνγκια, βρέθηκε στην Ελλάδα και είναι ωφελούμενος μαζί με την οικογένειά του του προγράμματος στέγασης του Solidarity Now.

«Αυτό το δίπλωμα είναι το δώρο γενεθλίων μου!» Σάνα, 22 ετών από το Πακιστάν, ωφελούμενη του Κέντρου Υποστήριξης Προσφύγων στη Θεσσαλονίκη, παρακολούθησε και αποφοίτησε από σεμινάριο ονυχοπλαστικής.

«Ηθελα να μάθω κάτι καινούργιο! Είμαι καθηγήτρια Ιταλικών, όμως επειδή δεν βγαίνουν τα έξοδα, αναγκάζομαι να κάνω και άλλες δουλειές». Θεοδώρα, από την Ελλάδα ωφελούμενη των εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων, αποφοίτησε από το σεμινάριο «IT Essentials» με τη συνεργασία της CISCO Networking Academy.

Οι παραπάνω μαρτυρίες είναι ενδεικτικές της πολύπλευρης δράσης της οργάνωσης Solidarity Now, η οποία μέσα σε πέντε χρόνια ζωής (ιδρύθηκε το 2013) πέτυχε να στηρίξει έμπρακτα μέσα από τα διαφορετικά προγράμματά της περισσότερους από 300.000 ανθρώπους. «Είτε αυτοί ήταν πρόσφυγες στους οποίους προσφέραμε στέγη και αξιοπρεπή διαβίωση είτε μητέρες και παιδιά που χρειάζονταν προστασία, είτε άνεργοι Ελληνες τους οποίους βοηθήσαμε να ξαναβρούν δουλειά», σημείωσε ο πρόεδρος του Solidarity Now Στέλιος Ζαββός. «Για εμάς οι 300.000 άνθρωποι που ωφελήθηκαν απευθείας από τις δράσεις μας δεν είναι ένας αριθμός», επισήμανε η γενική διευθύντρια του οργανισμού Αντιγόνη Λυμπεράκη. «Καθημερινά όλα αυτά τα χρόνια, με αυτούς τους 300.000 ανθρώπους έχουμε χαρεί, συγκινηθεί, φοβηθεί, αγωνιστεί, πετύχει – αυτό που μας ενώνει πάντα είναι ο σεβασμός και η αλληλεγγύη. Γιατί για εμάς, μια ανοικτή κοινωνία ανοχής και ισότητας, προϋποθέτει την ενδυνάμωση όλων των μελών της».

Βασικό κορμό της οργάνωσης αποτελεί η λειτουργία των δύο Κέντρων Αλληλεγγύης σε Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη, καθώς και του Κέντρου Υποστήριξης Προσφύγων στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Από το 2016 μέχρι σήμερα, η οργάνωση προσέφερε στέγη και υποστήριξη σε περισσότερους από 7.000 πρόσφυγες και αιτούντες άσυλο, με μακροπρόθεσμο στόχο τη βελτίωση της καθημερινότητάς τους, την ενδυνάμωση και την αυτονομία τους.

Iyad Lada, the Blue Refugee Center’s Project Coordinator, spoke to the radio station Athens 9,84, regarding the services provided in the Center to its beneficiaries. Iyad Lada presented also the qualitative results of the Center following the Press Release that celebrates its two-year of operation.

Children refugees love ancient Greek and learn algebra and English

On the occasion of the World Children’s Day, November 20^th, SolidarityNow, published a press release regarding the organization’s work focusing on the absolute right of all Children in Education; more than 4,000 children-beneficiaries, in Attica, Epirus and Northern Greece attend the courses and the non-formal educational activities organized for them while all are supported in the school enrollment procedure.
