Child Safeguarding Policy

Level 1 The job holder does not have contact with children

Job Responsibilities

  • Prepares 3 meals per day for the youth shelters’ residents
  • Operates various kitchen appliances
  • Estimates expected food consumption and organizes preparation and supplies
  • Ensures food supplies are purchased on time in coordination with relevant departments for approvals.
  • Monitor stock and places orders when there are shortages on a timely manner.
  • Prepares weekly plan for meals
  • In collaboration with staff members, alters dishes based on suggestions or requirements ensuring that allergies and/or specific diet concerns of residents are taken into consideration.
  • Ensures timely serving of meals and at the right temperatures as well as good presentation.
  • Responsible for cleaning food preparation areas and maintaining a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the line manager.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a cook is required
  • Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling etc.)
  • Ability to follow all sanitation procedures
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Very good communication skills
  • Knowledge of Greek and English is required/ Knowledge of Arabic and/or Farsi is considered an advantage
