Reports To: Project Coordinator

The Education Expert is a member of the core team of the project and serves as a point of contact for the teachers in all locations across Greece, offering guidance and support regarding pedagogical material and techniques. He/She coordinates with project teams and project partners, ensuring the project’s educational approach is harmonized across all sites and partners. He/She designs and builds tools tailored to the needs of the student population, ensuring relevant capacity building for educators, while at the same time collecting and mainstreaming good practices emerging from the field. He/She ensures that the educational material and curriculum follow the donor instructions and meet the project’s targets. He/She develops curricula, prepares relevant presentations and materials, organizes, delivers and/or facilitates classes, workshops, seminars, and other training services for the teachers in all locations where the project is implemented nationwide. He/she prepares relevant progress and other reports, papers and material as required by the project.

Responsibilities

1. Plans, coordinates and designs curricula for the educational project; researches and defines educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals;
2. Provides guidance, training and capacity building to the teams of SN educators, and partners across Greece; collects best practices emerging from the field, and disseminates accordingly;
3. In collaboration with the Child Rights, Gender Equality and Parental Counseling Officer, contributes to the design and consolidation of capacity-building material for children and parents aiming at the development of soft and life skills, focusing on parenting and children’s rights education;
4. In collaboration with the Child Rights, Gender Equality and Parental Counseling Officer organizes and facilitates capacity building and awareness-spreading activities towards public schools, local parents’ and teachers’ associations, municipalities, and volunteer associations in the regions where the project operates;
5. Determines formats and approaches to achieve the educational project objectives; defines needs of target population; researches trends at the national and state level, as appropriate to the position;
6. Oversees educational activities, to meet the requirements of the donor and the project’s targets;
7. Monitors the activities and the results achieved against the project indicators, in collaboration with Project Coordinator, Project Area Managers and MEAL Manager;
8. Participates in educational working groups, meetings with donor and other stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Education;
9. Participates in the development and/or revision of the project proposal; prepares reports and papers as appropriate;
10. Participates in the development of educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, etc., as appropriate to the project;
11. Performing any other tasks related to the implementation of the educational aspect of project as requested by the Project Coordinator.

Qualifications

• University degree (preferably Master’s or PhD) from an accredited academic institution in Education, with a specialization in refugee education.
• Minimum three (3) years of experience in relevant position.

• Previous experience in working with migrant/refugee population.
• Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
• Fluency in Greek and English. Knowledge of Arabic/Farsi will be highly appreciated.
• Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula.
• Program planning and implementation skills.
• Knowledge of the educational environment in Greece. Institutional donors’ regulations and requirements will be appreciated.
• Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word business software.
• Cross-cultural awareness and flexibility.
• Ability to work on own initiative and at the same time as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
• Ability to work under a distance-management scheme;
• Ability to organize and prioritize workload, using initiative when appropriate;
• Energetic, enthusiastic and able to motivate others;
• Demonstrating high cultural sensitivity.
