ATHENS VOICE on the employability service provided pro bono to the beneficiaries of the Solidarity Centers in Athens and Thessaloniki. The effectiveness of the service is presented through the success stories of people who found a job as well as of people who were supported enough to enhance their skills so as to get connected to the labour market.

SolidarityNow in Al Jazeera with the news story about new homeless refugees in Thessaloniki crossing the Evros border. Mrs. Vasiliki Oikonomou, the organization’s lawyer from the Blue Refugee Center in Thessaloniki, talks to the journalist Laurence Lee on the issue.
Once again, # SolidarityNow is in the Moria camp to assess the inhumane living conditions of people living stranded on the island. SolidarityNow’s spokesperson, Eleni Stamatoukou, Press Officer of the North Greece offices, tells Iasonas Pipinis and Iefimerida “We are watching closely the situation since December. There are families here, but most of the people are men alone, from Congo, Cameroon, Syria and Afghanistan, many of whom have psychological problems, and our request is for these people to be urgently transported from the islands to the mainland. ”

The organization’s Acting General Manager, Mrs. Antigone Lyberaki gave an interview in Real FM regarding the situation in Moria camp for the refugees after witnessed it by herself.
Real News (newspaper) & real.gr | A two-page article on the newspaper’s last issue for 2017 dedicated to SolidarityNow and its work results for the previous year. In this tribute, Mr. Stelios Zavvos, Chairman, states that the organization’s beneficiaries have exceeded 325.000 in number (Greeks, refugees and migrants) during its whole operation. The article took its name by one of the organization’s implemented projects -the pilot accommodation project in Tilos- which is described as one, among others, of SolidarityNow operational milestones.

Laila Saleh: “I do not know if I have the time. Maybe I’ll die trying to visit her …. If it’s God’s will, I’ll see her. ”
But it’s not just in God’s hands.
The German and Greek authorities must do something to speed up the process. Because if they do not, their application will be processed until 2019. And then it will probably be too late for Laila.
“The process takes several months. Their application will be processed in January 2019. Maybe she will not live by then. We will try everything to speed up the process but it is not in our hands,” Fay Koutzoukou says, on behalf of the NGO Solidarity Now.

The journalist on behalf of AFP visited the SolidarityNow home where the Syrian 110-year-old Laila Saleh is hosted along with her family. Her documents say she was born in the Kurdish city of Kobane in Syria in 1907; despite her age, Laila made the dangerous journey across the Aegean to the Greek island of Lesbos in an inflatable boat. Laila hopes to reach her granddaughter in Germany before she dies.
