Nikos Rangos, head of SolidarityNow’s mission in Turkey, spoke to journalist Evgenia Hatzigeorgiou from radio station 91.4 FM Sto Kokkino. Nikos spoke about the conditions in Antakya (Hatai province) after the devastating earthquakes on February 6th, 2023, and about the work of the organization there, which began alongside children and all those in need.

Through the Love Delivered Corporate and Social Responsibility program, efood covered the equipment needs of SolidarityNow’s mission in Turkey, which aims to provide support and care services to those affected by the devastating earthquakes of February 6, 2023.

SolidarityNow, stands strongly on the side of the people of the street magazine “Shedia” in Athens and Thessaloniki. Between February 9-11, SolidarityNow employees will become “Salesmen for an hour”, with the aim of informing and raising awareness about the work of the magazine, as well as of offering tangible support to the “man-seller” who is fighting for a better life.

SolidarityNow, celebrated on Monday 23 January, its 10-year continuous contribution to the Greek society. The event, “10 years of Solidarity in Action”, took place at the Athens Concert Hall.

The event about SolidarityNow’s journey into this decade was coordinated by journalist Ms. Niki Lymperaki. In the beginning, Mr. Stelios Zavvos, Chairman and Founder of SolidarityNow, welcomed the audience and spoke about the vision and work of the organization since its establishment. Introducing the next day, he stressed: “SolidarityNow is not a static organization, it goes along with society, listens to its needs, and evolves accordingly. At the beginning of our second decade, we are starting a new course, dynamic, but with our values as a constant compass. Join us, so that together we can become a catalyst for a better Greek society. Let’s all come together to continue this wonderful human endeavor.” The speakers then presented SolidarityNow’s multifaceted work, implemented in collaboration with the State, international organizations, foundations, businesses, and private donors. Eurolife FFH supports the implementation of “MAMA – Supporting new and mothers-to-be” program, by SolidarityNow. MAMA aims to support and empower new mothers and mothers-to-be as well as their partners from vulnerable social groups, in matters related to parenthood, nutrition and childcare, and will be implemented in Thessaloniki throughout 2023.

A group of teachers and student-refugees from Ukraine, from the SolidarityNow “Integration Learning Center” in Thessaloniki, which operates within the framework of the HELIOS integration program, learned Greek and sang carols to the Deputy Minister of the Interior, at the Directorate of the Ministry of Macedonia-Thrace.

Journalist Maria Kouzinopoulou, from the Athens & Macedonian News Agency, writes for the guide “A guide to tomorrow”, the publication that gathers information on the education and labour integration of unaccompanied refugees in Greece. The guide was edited by the Unaccompanied Minors Integration and Support Unit of the Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors of the Ministry of Migration & Asylum and the UNICEF office in Greece in collaboration with representatives of six non-governmental organizations (SolidarityNow, Arsis, DRC, Elix, Junior Achievement Greece, Metadrasi) and with the contribution of the independent Coordination and Monitoring Department of Refugee Education of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs and the Public Employment Service. The publication was co-financed by the European Union.

Mary Asvesta, Coordinator of SolidarityNow’s Employment Service and employment consultant, spoke about the guide and SolidarityNow’s contribution to its writing.

“Each person registered to HELIOS Project and take lessons at the Integration Learning Center (ILC) of SolidarityNow in Athens is provided with holistic support”, Dimitra Koutsoumba, ILC Coordinator, pointed out.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Greece organized the visit of the journalist Maria Kouzinopoulou to the SolidarityNow Integration Learning Center, focusing on the support provided there to refugees from Ukraine.

Olena and Sofia from Ukraine narrated their story from the moment the war broke out until they joined, HELIOS and started their new life in Athens.
