APE-MPE: The difficulties of six unaccompanied refugee children turning 18 at the Athens International Film Festival
The journalist Maria Kouzinopoulou interviewed Mustafa and Benji who lived in Greece as unaccompanied minors and now they have to face life all by themselves without the previous provided supportive network because they are turning 18. Mustafa and Benji are two out of the six protagonists of the short movie titled “I Woke Up 18” directed by Vera-Iona Papadopoulou and produced by SolidarityNow.
Six children. Six unaccompanied children. One word, one world of difference. Six people talk about life in the new country, Greece, a life that changes abruptly turning incredibly difficult at 18. Dreams, disillusionment, fear and hope of six young people.
The short movie will be presented for the first time on Friday, September 30th, 2022, during the Athens International Film Festival.

MACEDONIA: Completion of the ‘Step-by-Step’ program by SolidarityNow for the unaccompanied children
Macedonia newspaper hosts the article regarding the completion of the “Step-by-Step” program, which was implemented from September 2020 to March 2022.
The program (MIS:5063334) was funded within the framework of the National Program of the Asylum, Migration, and Integration Fund and the European Union and implemented with the support of the Special Secretariat for the Protection of Unaccompanied Minors.

Reuters presents for the International Women’s Day, Roya, the 18-year-old Afghan who lives in the refugee and migrant accommodation structure in Thebes. There, Roya creates a parallel world with her own hands. Against today’s adversities and painful past, Roya creates a world of colors and stories through paintings. Painting is the ‘vehicle’ for Roya to express what she feels, thinks and wants to change for the women of her homeland but also for all women.
*Roya is a beneficiary of the “All Children in Education” program, implemented by SolidarityNow with the support and funding from UNICEF Greece.

KATHIMERINI | War in Ukraine: Another battle for the refugees’ support
The journalist Ioanna Fotiadi from the newspaper KATHIMERINI, writes about the Civil Society organizations in Greece and their preparedness to provide assistance to the refugees fleeing war-torn Ukraine.
Among the organizations, SolidarityNow which is ready to provide support and the various free services offered through the Solidarity Center in Athens, to both refugees and Ukrainians already living in Greece.
