Job Overview

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of professional experience in educational programs for refugees or rural communities

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Required qualifications and skills

Advocacy plays a key role in achieving SN’s goals. To ensure our advocacy has the greatest impact, the post-holder will draw evidence directly from SN beneficiaries, explore strategic synergies between SN programmes and seek the creation of strategic alliances with civil society partners to improve people’s lives.

Responsibilities:

The Advocacy and Communications Officer will be responsible for producing and communicating the organization’s internal and external advocacy messages following the directions of the Advocacy and Communications Managers and in accordance with SN’s organizational strategy. S/he will produce and publicize content (traditional and digital) while developing and implementing media and social media advocacy campaigns to meet the advocacy and communicational needs of the organization and its projects.

In collaboration with the Advocacy Manager and Communications Manager, the Advocacy and Communications Officer will:

• Support the implementation of SolidarityNow advocacy and communication priorities.
• Produce and disseminate written material for internal and external use (briefings, letters, position papers, reports).

The Education Programme Officer is a member of the Programmes team, offering guidance and support regarding pedagogical material and techniques. Responsibilities

1. Undertakes the development of educational material and training manuals for educators on the topic of school violence.
2. Provides guidance, training and capacity building to educators, both of formal and non-formal education; collects best practices emerging from the field and disseminates accordingly.
3. Organizes and facilitates capacity building and awareness-spreading activities towards public schools and educational authorities.

Job Overview

The Female Friendly Space Facilitator acts as the coordinator of the space for women and girls within the open accommodation facility of Polykastro/ Nea Kavala. She facilitates access and ensures overall smooth functioning of the space; she conducts tailored psychosocial activities, identifies protection needs and provides support (including counseling and referrals); she encourages the participation of women and girls in group and individual activities (including awareness-raising on SGBV issues, among other themes, and skills-building sessions), so as to facilitate their overall integration and wellbeing in Greece. She serves as a point of contact for women residing at the open accommodation facility, designs and implements activities tailored to the women’s needs. She conducts focus groups discussions and needs assessments. She develops and maintains partnerships and good relationships with other actors within the accommodation facility, donors and stakeholders. She prepares relevant progress and other reports, and material as required by the project.

Generic responsibilities

• Maintains a comfortable and safe environment where women and girls can participate in psychosocial activities and receive appropriate support, while also including toddlers with their mothers in the services provided
• Prepares and implements structured activities for women, girls and mother-child, including the design of weekly schedules and timetables, through a participatory approach, tailored to their needs, skills and cultural diversities
• Identifies protection and other support needs and refers them to other service providers

Child Safeguarding Policy: Level 3 – The job holder will have regular contact with children

Generic responsibilities

• Coordinate the services offered under the program’s scope, supervise and guide effectively the educational and psychosocial team
• Implement after-school educational activities, per the refugee/migrant population needs on the subject of Greek Language and homework support
• Establish effective communication and collaboration with educational and other stakeholders (Refugee Education Coordinators, schools, other organizations etc.), participate actively in meetings and best practices exchange to promote refugee/migrant children’s integration in the formal education setting
• Link existing services within the organization to support children and families’ best interest
• Contribute to the identification of vulnerabilities, facilitate access to available aid, support the referral process
• Expand and build on the existing educational curriculum that targets and addresses the needs of different age groups of teenagers and children
• Ensure on-going monitoring, tracking and reporting of the project, develop and maintain effective filing systems, both electronic and hardcopy in Greek and English language

Qualifications

Essential

• Excellent Greek and English, both written and verbal
• Degree – Bachelor degree in education (any subject) or Greek Philology
• Proven knowledge of training, curriculum development, implementation and educational administration
• Proven academic or on-job training and understanding of the Project Cycle model in managing humanitarian assistance
• At least 3 years of professional experience in educational programs for refugees/migrants or rural communities
• Experience engaging with parents and communities in order to improve attendance and address students’ needs
• Experience gained within an international humanitarian NGO will be an added advantage
• Strong analytical and administrative skills in the management of educational programs and mainly primary education
• Experience in report writing and excellent computer skills
• Experience in training of trainers/facilitators skills will be an advantage

Desired

• Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Education will be an advantage
• Proven knowledge of training, curriculum development, implementation and educational administration
• Experience in training of trainers/facilitators skills
• Knowledge of report writing
• Knowledge of Arabic or Farsi will be an advantage
• Teachers who can teach both Greek and English are highly desirable
