Job Overview

The Community Engagement and Program Officer is responsible for managing the relationship between the Athens Solidarity Center, communities, and other organizations, developing partnerships and funding opportunities. The position holder will lead outreach and consultation efforts, be responsible for understanding and sharing community / beneficiary priorities and forge long-lasting and mutually beneficial partnerships. The position holder will also support the design, development, and management of projects, complementing the services provided by the Center.

Responsibilities

Community Engagement Activity

  • Oversee the design and implementation of the Community Engagement strategy, ensuring that activities are meaningful and inclusive; promote community empowerment and self-reliance, especially targeting beneficiaries most in need of assistance and protection.
  • Liaise with SN partners, local organizations, service providers, volunteers, and other stakeholders to strengthen inter-agency coordination.
  • Identify, promote, and coordinate opportunities for collaboration with local communities and other stakeholders.
  • Understand and articulate the needs and priorities of various groups and individuals.
  • Plan, facilitate and deliver community engagement and consultation projects.
  • Promote community development initiatives to ensure maximum participation of the target individuals and groups.
  • Lead the design and implementation of community activities (with adults and children).

 Program development

  • Support the development of project proposals across sector areas to diverse donors.
  • Draft concept notes and project proposals.
  • Carry out administrative actions related to the implementation of projects.
  • Perform needs assessments to identify programmatic gaps.
  • Participate in the project opening and closure (evaluation) process.
  • Manage project data (in collaboration with Monitoring & Evaluation Manager).

Other tasks

  • Preparation of reports and uploading of information in ASC database.
  • Ensure smooth cooperation and collaboration with other services, both within SolidarityNow and with other organizations.
  • Represent ASC and SN in relevant working groups, national and international fora.
  • Perform other duties, related to job description, and as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience
  • Master’s degree in relevant field (i.e., Humanities, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations, Law or relevant field)
  • Sound programmatic knowledge of any of the following priority areas will be highly appreciated: social protection, education, youth engagement, employment, legal aid, migration & asylum, integration of vulnerable social groups
  • Sound knowledge and experience of NGO humanitarian/development program cycle management and experience of working within a complex organizational structure
  • Project management skills regarding development, staffing, budgeting and scheduling
  • Good knowledge of Greek and international humanitarian systems, institutions, donors and procedures
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluency in Greek and English, proficiency in other languages desirable
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word business software
