Reports To: General Manager

Position Overview: The Director of Finance is responsible for the management of the organisation’s financial resources, the establishment and oversight of financial controls and annual auditing. The Director of Finance is a member of the Executive Management Team which guides the daily operation of the organisation and reports to the General Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring financial procedures and internal controls are in place and abided by, across the organisation.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and specific donor requirements.
  • Guiding all organisational decisions to manage financial risk.
  • Establishing and maintaining relationship with banks, authorities, and donors.
  • Safeguarding liquidity and monitoring cash flows.
  • Developing and managing organisational and programmatic budgets.
  • Overseeing and approving payments including salaries, tax, social security, rents, and vendors, ensuring value for money.
  • Acting as main point of contact for all aspects relating to organisational finances to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Safeguarding and managing organisational assets.
  • Overseeing the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting in line with donor requirements and the publication of annual accounts.
  • Supervising and managing 5-member Finance team, providing technical advice, capacity building and evaluating the progress of employees.
  • Overseeing operations and management of the HR team

 Requirements

  • University Degree in Finance and/or Accounting (Master’s degree or Professional Certifications in Accounting highly desirable).
  • Solid work experience in financial management with experience of 10 years or more.
  • Excellent knowledge of Greek Tax and Accounting Policies and Standards and associated regulatory issues and trends.
  • Thorough knowledge and experience in double entry bookkeeping.
  • Excellent understanding and knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Experience of European Programs and donor reporting an advantage.
  • Work experience at an NGO would be an advantage.
  • Experience with Human Resources Management would be an advantage.
  • Excellent knowledge of Accounting Software packages (knowledge of Navision an asset).
  • Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Good analytical and organizational skills and solid management experience.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and excellent strategic planning skills.
  • Fluency in Greek and English (written and oral).
