No. 271764/05.11.2024, Call Code: 01 Helios+ and Call Name Number of OPS Information System: 12914, , funded from the Ministry of Migration and Asylum (General Secretariat for Migration Policy – Special Service for the Coordination and Management of Migration and Home Affairs Programs – E.Y.SY.D. – M.E.Y.).

The 30-month project aims to support the integration of third country citizens, Beneficiaries of International Protection and Beneficiaries of Temporary Protection in Greece, through a holistic approach which embodies their access to education, the labor market, and vocational training. The Act will include actions such as enhancing and facilitating access to the labor market through career counseling, enhancing the beneficiaries’ ability to live independently through learning the Greek language, supporting beneficiaries during the integration process and promoting interaction with local communities and their autonomous access to social and public services, enhancing independent living through the provision of housing support, sensitization of host communities and stakeholders for the social and labor integration of beneficiaries.

In this context, one (1) position of SOCIAL COHESION MEDIATOR OF THE SOLIDARITYNOW CENTER for the ATTICA REGION SUBPROJECT of HELIOS+ (based in Athens) is announced, with a Fixed-Term Contract and full-time working hours (09.00am-17.00pm, Monday to Friday).

Α. GENERAL DESRIPTION:

The Social Cohesion Mediator of the center for Attica Region (based in Athens) will be part of a broad interdisciplinary team, responsible for assessing and managing the various needs of third-country citizens at the field level. He/She must work by providing a wide range of duties for the benefit of the beneficiaries and the local community, technically facilitating their interaction and peaceful coexistence. This includes organizing groups, interviews, and informational events with beneficiaries, designing and organizing social cohesion activities and events, etc.

B. DUTIES:

  • Implementing purchases on behalf of SolidarityNow, procuring goods and services in accordance with internal procurement policies and procedures.
  • Contributing to all administrative and logistical aspects of the subproject.
  • Horizontally monitoring all categories of goods and service purchases as assigned by SolidarityNow.
  • Conducting market research.
  • Developing and strengthening the relationships of the subproject’s beneficiaries with the local community.
  • Coordinating and providing administrative support, including scheduling meetings, interviews, and group sessions, and maintaining agendas and minutes.
  • Contributing to the development of a work program in consultation with local authorities and relevant stakeholders.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and analyzing issues affecting or highlighting the smooth coexistence of communities, in close collaboration with the subproject Coordinator.
  • Organizing events and activities, including developing agendas, arranging speakers, and producing reports and summaries of the events.
  • Other related duties as assigned by the subproject Coordinator.
  • Participation in SolidarityNow meetings.

Necessary qualifications:

  • University Education (U.E.) or Technical Education (T.E.) in Humanities, Social Sciences, Psychosocial Studies, Social Work, or/and other related fields.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a similar position, preferably in the humanitarian field.
  • Very good knowledge of the English language (C1/C2 level).
  • Very good knowledge of French, Arabic, Farsi/Dari, or Pashto/Urdu.
  • Knowledge of computer use in the subjects of: a) word processing, b) excel spreadsheets and c) internet services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload using initiative.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Desirable/considered qualifications:

  • Experience in community engagement activities and initiatives.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, with problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and at the same time as part of a multicultural and interdisciplinary team.
  • Intercultural awareness and flexibility.

C. EVALUATION PROCEDURE

D. RESULTS

  1. Candidates shall be ranked in descending order in tabular order based on the total marks obtained from the criteria marked.
  2. In case of a tie between candidates in the overall score, the person who has the most points in the Interview Criteria shall take precedence and, if they coincide, the one who has the most points in the Criterion of experience. If all the criteria coincide, the order between the tied candidates shall be determined by public drawing.
  3. The final ranking list on which the relevant recruitments will be made is kept for reasons of safeguarding personal data in the file of the human resources department of SolidarityNow and the successful candidate will be informed via email with the standard job offer procedure. Candidates who are not selected for the position are informed accordingly.

In case of selection to fill the position and to sign the relevant contract, the successful candidate must provide the following supporting documents:

The above Certificate of Attainment in Greek is not required for expatriates and foreigners who attend or have attended programs or courses of the Greek language within the organized Greek educational system both in Greece and abroad. It is also proven by a corresponding certificate of the School of Greek Language of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

3) Degrees-Diplomas

All candidates must provide a clear photocopy of their Diploma stating the exact grade, date and year of acquisition. If the grade is expressed in terms of merit or a whole number (whether it is a rounded whole number or a pure whole number), he must also submit a certificate from the relevant school for the exact numerical grade, to two decimal places. In the case of tertiary education degrees (Α.Ε.Ι. – Α.Τ.Ε.Ι.) where the grade results only from an evaluative characterization (scales “EXCELLENT”, “VERY GOOD” or “GOOD”), if the candidate cannot provide a certificate for the exact numerical grade, the lowest score corresponding to each evaluation scale must be entered in the corresponding field, namely:

 Α. GENERAL DESRIPTION:

The Subproject Center Coordinator will undertake the supervision and day-to-day operation of the Center, the contacts with IOM teams, procurement management, maintenance and related administration and coordination tasks of the team, which are related to the smooth operation of the Center. S/he must be sensitive and at the same time experienced about the needs, living conditions and challenges faced by third-country citizens in Greece, with knowledge on issues related to unemployment, labor market, integration difficulties and challenges and always work towards their smooth and non-discriminatory integration into the Greek reality, ensuring a strong and supportive support framework. 

B. DUTIES:

  • Coordination of the operation of the Centre, as well as of the staff, during the performance of its tasks and ensuring effective communication and cooperation among them.
  • Supervision of the proper maintenance and safety of the center’s premises.
  • Scheduling individual and group meetings at regular intervals with all employees in order to evaluate their actions and individual performance, which should be mandatory for all staff members, as well as coordination of volunteers and trainees, if any, and supervision for the provision of their services in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Collaborating and connecting relationships with authorities, local bodies and all stakeholders.
  • Planning and supervising interdisciplinary meetings.
  • Coordination of administrative operating procedures as well as administrative issues arising in the context of cooperation with other services and organizations.
  • Collection and processing of all required data for the monitoring of the implementation of the physical object and the submission of relevant reports to the Monitoring Officer of the subproject.
  • Cooperation and reporting with monthly reports to the Coordinator of the subproject and to the Management of SolidarityNow, to monitor the progress of the implementation of the action, ensuring that all required tasks are completed on time and accurately.
  • Planning and participating in HR processes, where required, such as training, briefings, staff evaluation and development, while mediating, if necessary, any conflicts between staff members and/or beneficiaries.
  • Participation in SolidarityNow meetings.

Necessary qualifications:

  • University Education (U.E.) or Technical Education (T.E.) of Economic, Administrative or Political Studies or Pedagogical studies and / or other similar subjects.
  • At least four (4) years of experience in a corresponding position of responsibility, preferably in the field of humanitarian organizations.
  • Very good knowledge of English (level C1/C2).
  • Knowledge of computer use in the subjects of: a) word processing, b) excel spreadsheets and c) internet services.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team and communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload using initiative.

  • Postgraduate studies in a subject related to vulnerable population groups/migrant-refugee issue, education.
  • Ease in managing multiple tasks, with problem-solving skills

Job Overview

The School Liaison Officer plays a crucial role in SolidarityNow project on menstrual health, which targets children aged 9-12, 12-15, parents/guardians, and teachers across Greece (Attica, Central Macedonia, Central Greece, Peloponnese, West Greece, North Aegean Region, East Macedonia & Thrace). The project’s goals are to promote menstrual health and hygiene awareness and literacy by educating children, adolescents, parents/guardians, and teachers, and by distributing menstrual products to girls. This role focuses on fostering effective collaboration with schools, local education authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure the project’s successful implementation. The Senior School Liaison Officer will conduct school mapping, establish outreach programs, and serve as the key communication link between the project team and educational institutions. In addition to liaising with schools and education authorities, the Senior Officer supervises and coordinates the team of School Liaison Officers, serving as the main point of reference for school-related issues and challenges. The role also includes overseeing school mapping and outreach, ensuring smooth scheduling of visits and logistics, and monitoring progress in collaboration with the Monitoring & Evaluation team. The Senior Officer acts as the key communication link between the project team, educational institutions, and institutional partners to ensure the successful and timely implementation of activities.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise the work of School Liaison Officers, providing guidance, support, and ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Serve as the main reference point for school-related issues, resolving challenges and escalating concerns when needed.
  • Map, select, and coordinate school visits based on the program’s equity-based selection criteria, prioritizing underserved areas, and schedule these visits in collaboration with facilitator teams to ensure smooth logistics, including travel arrangements and distribution of teaching materials.
  • Act as the primary contact point for schools, fostering understanding of the project’s goals, addressing concerns, and securing active participation from stakeholders.
  • Communicate the project’s objectives and methodologies to school staff, parents’ associations, and education authorities.
  • Support the delivery of seminars by collaborating with facilitators, assisting with the distribution of educational materials and period products, and ensuring high participation.
  • Collaborate with the Monitoring & Evaluation team to review progress of scheduled school visits, track achievements, and contribute to project adjustments based on findings.
  • Maintain strong organizational oversight to ensure timely execution of project activities and resolve any issues that may arise during implementation.
  • Collaborate with UNICEF, other implementing or institutional partners of the program to align project efforts and secure broader support for the initiative.

Qualifications

  • University degree (preferably Master’s) from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Education, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in roles involving school outreach, stakeholder engagement, or program coordination in educational or social initiatives.
  • Proven experience working with governmental and local education authorities.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities and adhere to tight deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to foster relationships with diverse groups, including school staff, regional authorities, and parents.
  • Proficiency in Greek and English (written and spoken).
  • Familiarity with menstrual health and hygiene topics is an advantage.
  • High level of initiative, accountability, and attention to detail.
