Job Overview

The Menstrual Health and Hygiene & Psychosocial Support Expert is a member of the core team of a project on menstruation destigmatization, targeting mainly children aged 9-12 and 13-15 in schools across Greece. The project’s goals are to deliver health promotion activities for the menstrual health and hygiene of adolescent girls, and to educate all adolescents, as well as parents/guardians and teachers on menstruation, countering prevalent myths and stigma. This role involves: a) designing and developing comprehensive educational packages on menstrual health & hygiene and destigmatization for children aged 9-12, adolescents 13-15, parents/guardians, and teachers, b) developing and organizing trainings for facilitators to deliver educational packages to the project’s target groups, c) supporting facilitators and other relevant team members throughout the project, to ensure high-quality service provision.

Responsibilities 

  • Design educational materials for children, teachers, and parents/guardians to promote menstrual health & hygiene and menstruation destigmatization; materials should be scientifically accurate and adhere to donor requirements and relevant international standards.
  • Provide technical guidance on issues of health promotion specific to menstrual health and hygiene, incorporating scientifically accurate information.
  • Ensure all materials incorporate socio-emotional learning methodologies.
  • Ensure that all materials developed take into account the specific needs and characteristics of children growing up at risk of poverty and social exclusion, within marginalized groups, and/or with disabilities, and are accessible and relevant to these target groups.
  • Develop project guidelines
  • Design and adapt educational materials to be delivered through multiple modalities, in collaboration with relevant professionals (online educational platform, video format, Braille script, etc.).
  • Develop and deliver trainings for facilitators to deliver the educational packages designed through the project.
  • Deliver capacity building and training activities to the project’s target beneficiaries and relevant stakeholders, as necessary.
  • Oversee the rollout of the project’s educational activities, monitoring the quality of service delivery and providing continuous support to all team members involved.
  • Maintain strong relationships with relevant project stakeholders, in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Collaborate with SN programmes department for the development of new projects and interventions, complementing and strengthening the effectiveness of the ongoing project.
  • Contribute to field-level HR processes (recruitment, evaluation, and development).
  • Contribute to the preparation of timely reports to donors and organizational leadership, detailing progress, challenges, and successes.

Qualifications

  • University degree (preferably Master’s) from an accredited academic institution, preferably in Social Sciences, Education, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in developing education materials and delivering capacity building activities, preferably related to women and girls’ health promotion; at least one (1) year of experience in developing education materials specifically for children (including adolescents).
  • Familiarity with menstrual health and hygiene issues, and women and girls’ health promotion overall.
  • Experience in monitoring the quality of capacity building activities and providing guidance to relevant professionals.
  • Experience in working with vulnerable groups of beneficiaries, including children at risk of poverty and social exclusion and children with disabilities, will be considered an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Greek and English (written and spoken). Additional languages are an asset.
  • Strong sense of initiative, responsibility, ownership, and excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word business software.
