The Programmes Department

The Programmes Department lies at the heart of our work, leading actions as per the organisation’s strategic priorities, namely: a) Inclusive education for all;  b) Catalysing livelihoods opportunities; c) Improving social protection and cohesion; d) Enabling access to justice and the protection of human rights.

More specifically, the Department is responsible for:

  1. The implementation and monitoring of projects;
  2. Project design (including identification of funding opportunities and preparation of concept notes and project proposals); and
  3. Developing and managing partnerships.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Project Design and Development

  • Developing and designing new projects – through the preparation of concept notes, project proposals and log frames.
  • Developing project budgets.
  • Developing and managing consortiums for the design of EU funded projects. 

Project Management & Implementation

  • Coordinating project implementation across thematic areas (education, employment, protection, and access to justice).
  • Managing project budgets and overseeing expenditure.
  • Carrying out administrative actions relating to the implementation of projects.
  • Leading the project opening and closure (evaluation) process.
  • Establish close communication lines with donors to facilitate implementation.
  • Preparing internal and external reports.
  • Preparing and reviewing financial and other documentation to support audits.
  • Managing project data (in collaboration with Monitoring & Evaluation Manager).

Partnerships and Representation

  • Developing and maintaining partnerships (private, public and third sector) to expand and strengthen programmes.
  • Building partnerships for funding applications and to develop project synergies.
  • Representing the organisation nationally and internationally in meetings, working groups and conferences.
  • Regularly communicating with other organizations, public authorities, grassroots organizations.

Job Requirements / Skills Required

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field (i.e., Humanities, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations, Law).
  • Outstanding project management skills.
  • Sound knowledge and experience of NGO humanitarian/development program cycle management.
  • Sound programmatic knowledge of one or more of the following priority areas will be highly appreciated: Migration, Education, Youth, Employment.
  • Good knowledge of Greek and international humanitarian systems, institutions, donors, and procedures.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan activities and actions.
  • Solution-driven with ability to take on new initiatives.
  • Fluency in Greek and English, proficiency in other languages desirable
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)
