Reports to the Project Coordinator

The Education Specialist is a member of the core team of the project and serves as a point of contact for the educators in all locations across Greece, as well as coordinating with other project partners. He/She plans and coordinates the relevant educational material for the adult beneficiaries/students and ensures that the educational material and curriculum follow the donor instructions and meet the project’s targets. He/She develops curricula, prepares relevant presentations and materials, organizes, delivers and/or facilitates classes, workshops, seminars and other training services for our educators in all locations where the project is implemented nationwide. He/she prepares relevant progress and other reports, papers and material as required by the project.

Responsibilities

  1. Plans, coordinates and designs curricula for the integration educational project; researches and defines educational goals, objectives, and methodologies to meet program goals.
  2. Provides guidance, training and capacity building to the teams of SN educators, and partners across Greece.
  3. Determines formats and approaches to achieve the educational project objectives; defines needs of target population; researches trends at the national and state level, as appropriate to the position.
  4. Oversees educational activities, to meet the requirements of the donor and the project’s targets, including provision of language courses, cultural orientation and life skills to adult refugee beneficiaries.
  5. Monitors the activities and the results achieved against the project indicators, in collaboration with Project Coordinator, Educators and M&E officer;
  6. Technical supervision of a minimum of 4 field teams in 3 locations across Greece; Regular travel is required;
  7. As appropriate to the nature and objectives of the individual role, provides student advisory and support services, coordinates curriculum, and serves as a student liaison and advocate with faculty and staff.
  8. Participates in educational working groups, meetings with donor and other stakeholders, such as the Ministry of Education.
  9. Participates in the development and/or revision of the project proposal; prepares reports and papers as appropriate.
  10. Participates in the development of educational materials, training manuals, newsletters, etc., as appropriate to the project.
  11. Performing any other tasks related to the implementation of the educational aspect of project as requested and requested by the Project Coordinator.

Qualifications

 University degree (preferably Master’s) from an accredited academic institution in Education, with a specialization in Adult education.

  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in relevant position.
  • Previous experience in working with migrant/refugee population.
  • Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in Greek and English. Knowledge of Arabic/Farsi will be highly appreciated.
  • Knowledge of academic and/or vocational education curricula.
  • Program planning and implementation skills.
  • Knowledge of the educational environment in Greece. Institutional donors’ regulations and requirements will be appreciated;
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word business software.
  • Cross cultural awareness and flexibility.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and at the same time as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work under a distance-management scheme;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload, using initiative when appropriate.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic and able to motivate others.
  • Understanding the socio-economic hardship aspects faced by the target beneficiaries, demonstrating high cultural sensitivity.

He/ She should promote fair play, collaboration and critical thinking. He/She is finally responsible for the supervision of the space in which he/she performs his/her duties during working hours.

Admin / Grants Officer

The Admin & Grants Officer is a member of the coordination team of the project. He/she serves as a point of contact and link between employees, internal departments (Log, HR, FIN) and external parties. She/he handles clerical and administrative duties, analyzes and improves office processes, ensuring organizational policies are in place and the smooth operation of the project in N. Greece. He/she is also responsible for collecting the necessary information and data, update the project’s database, and prepare statistical and other reports as requested. He/She is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of 2 grants provided by SN to organizations in N. Greece and ensures the smooth managing of the said partnerships.

Responsibilities

General Administration

 Provides logistics and admin support to the Project Coordinator.

  • Collects progress reports received from the field teams to facilitate programme reporting.
  • Updates the project’s organizational chart and job descriptions, assisting with preparing annual holiday planning and staff shifts in order to forecast HR needs.
  • Assists and participates in HR processes such as recruitment, training, briefings, evaluation and development of staff.
  • Places calls and writes letters to local & institutional authorities and other organizations.
  • Responsible for purchases in coordination with the Procurement Department.
  • Participates in field trips and assessments, as requested and directed by Project Coordinator.
  • Handles travel authorization forms and collects time sheets of staff.
  • Collaborates with Finance Dpt regarding payments, purchase requests, etc.
  • Undertakes any other tasks requested by the Project Coordinator.

Grants Management

Coordinates the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the 2 grants provided by SN to partner organizations in N. Greece.

  • Manages relevant budgets and reporting of grantees.
  • Maintains strong partnership and effective collaboration with grantees.
  • Conducts regular communication and follow up on project implementation including review of progress reports and evaluation of payment requirements.
  • Carrying out administrative actions relating to the implementation of projects / grants
  • Preparing and reviewing financial and other documentation to support audits in collaboration with the 2 grantees.
  • Prepares internal and external programme reports.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar position.
  • Master’s degree in relevant field (i.e. Humanities, Social Sciences, Political Sciences, International Relations, Law, Economics or relevant field).
  • Sound knowledge and experience of NGO humanitarian/development program cycle management and experience of working within a complex organizational structure.
  • Project management skills regarding development, staffing, budgeting and scheduling
  • Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel etc.)
  • Fluency in Greek and English, proficiency in other languages desirable.
  • Respect of humanitarian principles.
  • Field experience working with refugees/migrants and/or other vulnerable groups would be appreciated.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Focal point of communication for vulnerable families or vulnerable beneficiaries;
  • Assess and address social needs of the beneficiaries, identify and follow-up cases that require special care;
  • Perform case management in cooperation with other project staff and potentially SN partners involved in services provision;
  • Cooperate with interpreters where needed for the provision of social services;
  • Closely cooperate with other team members, passing on crucial information and expressing the need of action clearly and concisely;
  • Keep social register files and statistical records of the caseload and services’ provision;
  • Manage individual protection cases, including those on SGBV and child protection, and be in-charge of drafting relevant case plans;
  • Find proper solutions to individuals, who are at most risk or victims of violence;
  • Set strategies and operational measures to effectively prevent SGBV;
  • Conduct needs/gaps and capacity assessments on SGBV response needs;
  • Perform social work duties and undertake procedures implementation when referral(s) to other services are required;
  • Directly support and coach beneficiaries through the usage of simple communication and moral uplifting techniques;
  • Regular and ad hoc reporting and data/case files keeping;

Required qualifications & skills

  • University degree in Humanities or Social Sciences;
  • Experience in social work within the civil society sector, preferably working with vulnerable groups and refugees/migrants;
  • Minimum one-year professional experience in case management;
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary team;
  • Ability to troubleshoot and ease potential tensions between the project’s beneficiaries;
  • Ability to perform fact finding tasks and clearly articulate results in a fair and balanced way;
  • Previous experience in street-work and/or a job entailing direct contact and exchange with vulnerable groups of beneficiaries is an asset;
  • Fluency in Greek and English required;
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, and Word business software;
  • Experience in community mobilization;
  • Cross-cultural awareness and flexibility;
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, listening and observation skills, including ability to create trust, support, respect and interact with women and girls of all ages, background and diversity;

Job purpose

SN is looking to collaborate with a qualified and experienced lawyer, with knowledge in a wide range of legal matters, that people facing multiple discriminations and marginalities must address. The lawyer will deal with the relevant cases upon referral by the team leader/social worker working in the refugee camp of Andravida. He/she might need to visit the camp in person in order to meet with the beneficiary that needs his/her assistance, upon demand and on a case by case basis.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Court representation of asylum seekers and refugees on various matters, incl. asylum, family law, criminal.
  • Provision of legal information and relevant communication with field team (team leader and social worker) with regards to specific cases.
  • Provide rigorous follow-up, ensure that the cases proceed towards resolution;
  • Maintain records of all activities.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Minimum three years of experience in practicing law
  • Excellent knowledge of the following areas of Greek law: asylum, human rights, family law
  • Good knowledge of administrative, welfare or criminal law is desired
  • Legal analysis: ability to identify and address legal issues for advice and representation
  • Substantial experience of advising and representing individuals with some vulnerability on a professional or voluntary basis
  • Previous experience of human rights/protection work, especially of vulnerable social groups, is highly desirable
  • Ability to cooperate effectively with other disciplines, in order to maximize the support provided to beneficiaries, as well as ability to adjust communication skills according to the age of the beneficiary
  • Direct availability upon request to advice or counsel
  • Fluency in English

Desired:

  • Previous work within an NGO context and child protection is highly desirable

Expand and build on the existing educational curriculum, targeting and addressing the needs of different age groups of children, teenagers and adults

Oversee distributions of teaching and learning material according to the population’s needs

Update and maintain effective workplans

Ensure on-going monitoring, tracking and reporting of classes

Develop and maintain effective filing systems, both electronic and hardcopy

Contribute to the identification of vulnerabilities and facilitate access to available aid

Qualifications

Excellent Greek and English

At least Bachelor degree in Primary education or Mathematics/Physical Sciences

Proven knowledge of training, curriculum development, implementation and educational administration

At least 1 year of professional experience in educational programs for refugees or rural communities

Experience engaging with parents and communities in order to improve attendance and address students’ needs

Strong analytical and administrative skills in the management of educational programs and mainly primary education

Responsibilities:

Specific duties:

  • Monitor closely the Grant Contract Requirements and Donors’ Templates;
  • Support organization-wide donors’ budgeting and financial reporting through review of donor financial documents for accuracy, adherence to budgeting best practices, and indirect recovery;
  • Provide info & revisions to the SN procedures & manuals;
  • Prepare the Financial Reports & Documentation;
  • Analyze and explain variances between forecasts, budget, and actual spent or/and unspent amounts;
  • Communicate clearly with the program and operations team on the plant’s performance;
  • Demonstrate understanding of source documentation, research variances, and propose corrections;
  • Coordinate and participate in various auditing related activities to ensure proper controls and compliance with SN policies;
  • Coordinate Inventory Reporting for assets;
  • Support response to finance-related donors’ queries;
  • Work with the department to prepare and manage the annual operating reporting;
  • Submit Financial Reporting documentation whenever is requested by Project Guidelines;
  • Assist when necessary to the Bookkeeping of expenses and bank transactions
  • Performs checks in contracts connected to program and projects, whenever needed;
  • Trains and informs existing and new staff on procedures, making sure that they are understood and adhered to according to each donor’s requirements, also keeping everyone updated on any changes to these.

Requirements

  • At least University degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field (Master’s degree will be considered as an asset);
  • 5-7 years of work experience in a Finance role;
  • Experience of at an NGO and/or European Programs, budgeting and reporting
  • Excellent communication skills as the role demands extensive interaction with other departments and people of all levels;
  • Good knowledge of latest Accounting Policies and Standards and associated regulatory issues and trends and double entry bookkeeping;
  • Working knowledge of Accounting Software packages (knowledge of Navision Accounting Software would be an asset)
  • Very good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Good analytical and organizational skills, attention to detail and determination to meet deadlines;
  • Strong language skills (both written and oral) in Greek and English;
  • Professional attitude towards work;
