Job Overview

The MEAL Officer is a member of the coordination team of a non-formal education project. He/she is responsible for setting up and supplying the databases with information for the project, collecting and compiling the necessary data, conducting interviews of beneficiaries when requested, and evaluating the progress of the project and its impact.

Main Responsibilities and Duties

Monitoring and Data Collection

  • Conducts primary data collection, including interviews, surveys, and focus group discussions, upon request and according to the general and project-specific M&E plan, and in cooperation with Project Coordinator.
  • Collects data on a regular basis to measure achievement against the performance indicators, and prepares relevant statistics, i.e., students’ attendance, teaching hours, etc.
  • Compiles projects and activities’ data and informs the relevant database and collection tool.
  • Assists in data quality assurance and managing data according to internal and donor standards.

 Evaluation

  • Ensures visibility and accountability material are in place and used.
  • Supports field teams on how to collect and analyze relevant project information.
  • Supports staff to ensure that projects are carried out with participation from beneficiaries and that information is shared with beneficiaries.
  • Coordinates the review of survey reports prepared to ensure quality and accurate reporting.

Other

  • Follows confidentiality and security procedures to ensure respondent privacy is protected.
  • Maintains contact with beneficiaries/target groups (receive requests, provide task-related information, etc.).
  • Drafts reports and prepares statistics and other information as requested by the project coordinator and donor.
  • Carry out capacity building activities and trainings relating to quality data collection and reporting for project staff.
  • Participates to any other task to achieve the project’s objectives, including admin tasks.

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar position
  • Experience in working with NGOs, in the education field, and/or client-oriented services.
  • Understanding and knowledge of the humanitarian context and civil society environment in Greece.
  • University Degree in Information Technology, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, and/or related field.
  • High computer literacy, especially with Excel.
  • Database management experience.
  • Sound knowledge of the two following languages: Greek, English.
  • Respect of humanitarian principles.
  • Field experience working with refugees/migrants and/or other vulnerable groups would be appreciated.

  • Συνεργασία με τα υπόλοιπα μέλη της ομάδας, με τις κατευθύνσεις του Συντονιστή Μονάδας, για την από κοινού ολιστική στήριξη των παιδιών
  • Συμμετοχή στη διαχείριση επειγόντων περιστατικών, σε συνεργασία με τα υπόλοιπα μέλη της ομάδας
  • Παρακολούθηση της κατάστασης των διαμερισμάτων, και ενημέρωση του Συντονιστή Μονάδας για ανάγκες επισκευών/συντηρήσεων

  • Διατήρηση φυσικού και ηλεκτρονικού αρχείου για τις δραστηριότητες του προγράμματος
  • Προετοιμασία και υποβολή παραδοτέων στον χρηματοδότη του προγράμματος μέσω της ηλεκτρονικής πλατφόρμας ΟΠΣ
  • Παρακολούθηση και προγραμματισμός του προϋπολογισμού σύμφωνα με τις ανάγκες του προγράμματος, σε συνεργασία με την Οικονομική Διεύθυνση
  • Συνεργασία με τη Διεύθυνση Προγραμμάτων και τα υπόλοιπα Τμήματα και Διευθύνσεις του SolidarityNow για τη βέλτιστη εφαρμογή του προγράμματος

Προϋποθέσεις

  • Εμπειρία τουλάχιστον 3 ετών στο ανθρωπιστικό πεδίο, εκ των οποίων 2 σε αντίστοιχη ή σε διοικητική θέση
  • Εμπειρία στον τομέα της παιδικής προστασίας και κατανόηση του πλαισίου προστασίας των ασυνόδευτων ανήλικων στην Ελλάδα
  • Πανεπιστημιακό πτυχίο σε τομέα κοινωνικών επιστημών, κατά προτίμηση με μεταπτυχιακή ειδίκευση στον ανθρωπιστικό τομέα ή παρεμφερές πεδίο
  • Εμπειρία στον ελληνικό ανθρωπιστικό κλάδο και εξοικείωση με δημόσιους και ιδιωτικούς φορείς παροχής κοινωνικών υπηρεσιών
  • Καλές διαχειριστικές και επικοινωνιακές (γραπτές και προφορικές) δεξιότητες

Generic responsibilities

  • Provide after-school Math and Science classes according to refugee and migrant population needs
  • Expand and build on the existing educational curriculum, targeting and addressing the needs of different age groups of children and youth
  • Provide homework support for the children who attend formal education
  • Oversee distributions of teaching and learning material according to the population’s needs
  • Update and maintain effective workplans
  • Ensure on-going monitoring, tracking and reporting of classes
  • Develop and maintain effective filing systems, both electronic and hardcopy
  • Support education, recreational and various activities
  • Contribute to the identification of vulnerabilities and facilitate access to available aid
  • Engage with parents, schools and communities in order to improve attendance and address students’ needs

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree – Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics/Science (eg. Physics, Chemistry or any other relevant field)
  • Excellent Greek and preferably English
  • At least 1 year of professional experience in educational programs for refugees or rural/vulnerable communities
  • Strong analytical and administrative skills in the management of educational programs and mainly primary education
  • Excellent Computer skills

Desired

  • Masters or Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Education will be an advantage
  • Experience teaching non-native speakers
  • Proven knowledge of training, curriculum development, implementation and educational administration
  • Experience in training of trainers/facilitators skills
  • Knowledge of report writing
  • Knowledge of Arabic or Farsi will be an advantage

Responsibilities

Interpretation

  • Interpretation for beneficiaries and staff during one to one consultations or information sessions
  • Ensure accurate and precise information is passed to the beneficiaries in an understandable and culturally appropriate manner

Data base and Case related info management

  • Filing and registering all cases and actions in a database as instructed by supervisor.
  • Maintain up to date hard and electronic archives.

Other Duties

  • Participate in field trips, visits and assessments as requested by supervisor.
  • Brief beneficiaries on running programs and inform for any relevant changes.
  • Contribute to the identification of vulnerabilities and facilitate beneficiaries’ access to available support.

Required qualifications and skills

Essential

  • Fluent in  French and Greek

Position Summary: Interpreter is expected to ensure mediation and interpretation from and to beneficiaries of the Athens Solidarity Center Social, Legal, employability  counselling/psychologist or Reception Service and within the function of complementary Services (Accountancy Support). In addition, should be able to contribute to the identification of the most vulnerable in cooperation with Professional Aid Workers.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Intercultural Mediation -Interpretation
  • Mediate with beneficiaries while briefings or sessions are conducted
  • Ensure accurate and precise information is passed to the beneficiaries in an understandable and culturally acceptable way
  • Data base and Case related info management
  • Filling and registering all cases and actions to the DataBase upon instructions of the supervisor

Volunteer Position Description

Volunteer Position | Position title: Reception Officer

Place of work: Athens Solidarity Center (ASC)

Hours required: 4-5 hours (09:00-13:00 or 09:00-14:00)

Days required: 5 days/week

Job purpose: Reception officer should welcome people and inform  them about the services provided in ASC (Social service, Legal aid, Psychological Support, Employability service, Accounting services) according to the request of each one of the people.

Duties & responsibilities:

  • Information given to new beneficiaries about the services of ASC (SN     & other partners such as Network for Children’s Rights)
  • Data entry & administration of the database, as regards basic information for their registration including full name, age, date of birth
  • Printing of ASC cards with a unique sequential SN code for each one of the beneficiaries
  • First Guidance (Referrals) to other NGO’s for those people, whom their requests cannot be assisted by our services
  • Efficient management of the interpreters, in order all services to receive assistance in the interpretation when needed.
  • Keeping notes of contact details of those beneficiaries whose requests are in progress and they want to check progress of their cases and/or book a new appointment.
  • Registration of first-time requests for the employability and accounting service (photocopy of official document I.D. passport, asylum card, residence permit, along with telephone number and address of the beneficiary)

Minimum level of Education: University degree preferably in Social & Political Sciences

Skills/qualifications required (technical skills, language skills, experience, etc.):

Languages: Greek necessarily & English – French (desirable)

Previous experience in other NGOs and specifically in a similar position. Volunteer must have excellent communications skills, be organizational, methodical and paying attention to details.

Physical requirements: No specific physical requirements.

The role of the ILC Front Desk Administrator is to support the daily operation of the Center, including communications, scheduling, secretarial services, as well as presentation of the provided services to the beneficiaries. He/She will interact with beneficiaries, staff and visitors in person or via email/phone.

Responsibilities 

  • Provides administrative support in order to ensure the Center’s smooth daily operation.
  • Provides information about the Center and the programme to beneficiaries as required.
  • Meets and greets beneficiaries and visitors in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Books appointments and manages the Center’s daily/ weekly/ monthly calendar.
  • Handles correspondence (phone/ email/ fax/ post).
  • Handles communication with beneficiaries and staff of the ILC.

Qualifications

  • University Degree in Humanities, Political Science, Communications, Business Administration, Education and/or related field.
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience in similar position, preferably in the NGO/humanitarian and/or Education and/or client-oriented services.
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills, in person and over the phone.
  • Proven experience of successful administrative support in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Fluency in Greek or English and Arabic or Farsi
  • Strong sense of initiation, responsibility, ownership and excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint , Word and Microsoft Teams business software.
